I do not agree.

The purpose for which I created MarinePoi was not to convert files from elsewhere, but to create a shareable library of "Pois". It appeared that this software might also be used with files exported from OpenCPN.

So I set up the compromise "save" and "save as ...". I do not want to penalize (by enforcing rename or warning at each saving) those who use MarinePoi for the purpose for which the software was initially created

Hoping that it will suit everyone ....

If your warning pops up,it will remind me I have a sharp tool in my hand and that is more than my corkscrew does!

you have copied the "exe" file (and the latest "langueEN.txt") in the directory containing the MarinePoi files ... ? (usually the directory ../program files/MarinePoi/ ...)

To avoid confusion, I make a "package" of the latest "exe" and language : http://upload.plaisance-pratique.com...-MarinePoi.zip

Success!That helps!The "File menu" is in English,now!
I have lost my little ">>" button to open a file but that is not important.I suppose it is required to lose it so that the File Menu may be improved.

Hello Seagull,

Thank you for this honor! The logo belongs to "plaisance-pratique.com", our website. Of course for private use you can make a wp symbol with the logo. Public use or redistribution would require that the owner name is citated.

Question: was the "save" operation done properly despite the error message ?

Question: Did this error exist in the previous version of MarinePoi ? The point is that nothing has changed between the two latest versions, apart from the position of the tab "save" moved from one menu to another menu.

Microsoft has an explanation to this strange error message that appears to be related to your OS : Error: Run-time error -2147417848 (80010108) Automation error. The object invoked has disconnected from its clients. (NETIQKB950)

Another forum says : 5.Run time error -2147417848(80010108) solution: It's caused by Microsoft Office and can be solved by copying the file "MSCAL.OCX" from the Microsoft Office folder and copying it to Windows/system32/ Just say yes when it asks you if you want to overwrite/replace the file.

Another link says : "In a lot of cases like this, it is about your windows registry" : Runtime Error 2147417848 80010108 - Quick Solution !

I suggest :

As MarinePoi "exe" file has been replaced several times without fresh installation, I suggest to completely uninstall MarinePoi, clean the folder MarinePoi in the "program files" folder, and reinstall it.

Download the latest here : http://www.plaisance-pratique.com/IM...nePoi_1_2i.zip

Re: Software to introduce hypertext links in OpenCPN waypoints

AHA! a solution to a question I had...ie: linking to a program outside the Gpx's POI folder...without having it disappear when MarinePOI reopens the gpx.

simply, make a ".bat " file in notepad.and keep it in the POI folder. Then, use it as a link...!
as in :

Code:
D:\KEEPERS\Navigation\TIDE+CURRENTextraPrgrms\JTides.jar
to start this little tides program I like on my desktop as an example
it's just the path to the app on your computer copied into a fresh new notepad file. Then change ".txt" to ".bat"

Yes,this will only work on your computer, because of the path difference on everybody else's!Where the path is wrong,it just gives a flash of cmd window.get rid of that by adding a line at the top of the bat:
@echo off

and, inside that bat,you could have other things happening too, depending on the capabilities of the app...

Re: Software to introduce hypertext links in OpenCPN waypoints

Robert.

To answer your #128.

No,the 'Save as' did not save anything before producing the error message, nor did it after exiting the program.

This did not happen in the previous version before the 'Save as' etc. was added.

I've done all the registry checks I can think of and daily use CCleaner to delete unwanted stuff.

I have also totally removed the installed version and freshly installed the latest version on a different drive (D) but the errors still repeat themselves.

Robert..

For the time being I use the 'Save' function to the directory it was loaded from and then manually copy the .gpx file to the main MarinePoi directory.

Re: Software to introduce hypertext links in OpenCPN waypoints

Robert..

I have set up a special POI as a quick link to start MarinePOI but it always comes up in French?
I have clicked the English flag which brings up a 'Restart POI' question. Upon confirmation, the language does not change although I have tried repeatedly. I even deleted the French.txt file.

Another problem/suggestion.. double clicking the MarinePoi link bypasses the start page and invokes GE right away. Perhaps alter the program to ignore double click upon initiation?
This only happens when executed from the OCPN 'Mark information' box.

This means that MarinePoi starts in a directory that does not contain language files (French is the default if language files are missing)

I do not understand: A double click creates two instances of the program (as usual) but does not bypass the start page ... I just tested. The program ignores already double click. Perhaps a strange behavior of OpenCPN Mark information box links ?

Re: Software to introduce hypertext links in OpenCPN waypoints

Robert..

Yes,as I explained,it only happens when a link is evoked from OCPN.
OCPN behaves normally with other links?

Ah,well,I shall just have to remember to click ONCE for this link.

One other problem about the language. I would like the created MarinePOI.gpx to be placed in the 'layers' area of OCPN so it will automatically be loaded together with all the other POI's at startup time. It seems that this particular MarinePOI.gpx MUST be located in the main MarinePoi directory in order to be presented in English. I have tried placing copies of the language files in the 'layers' directory but it does not work, all is still in French?

Re: Software to introduce hypertext links in OpenCPN waypoints

Robert..

I now created the MarinePoi.gpx from it's own directory, but it still defaults to French?
Why is it behaving in this way? Clicking the English flag and entering OK does not alter the language. Path: D:/Program files/MarinePOI/MarinePoi.exe

On the other hand, setting up a copy of MarinePoi.exe ANYWHERE comes out in English.
