I installed the plugin from the link you indicated. But when I open OpenCPN and go into options > plugin it is not installed (and therefore I can not even enable it)

What does the log file say?

Did you install into the correct OpenCPN version? If you are running parallel installs you need to assure that it gets to the right one.

Where is the Log file?
I have only the new version of OpenCPN (beta test 5).

Via the (?) button from the tool bar.

Try to install the plug-in again. When asked where to install you can open a directory selector. Please post a screen shot of that step.

Coming late to the Beta party . . . . Can I run the beta version together with version 4.8.8 which is what I am using now ? Don't want to mess up my installation.

Yes, you can install it in parallel (In this case it will still share the configuration!) or use it in portable mode (Completely isolated). Remember that when you install any plugins you also have to change the install location for each.

I have uninstalled all previous versions and previous plugins. I only have one installation of OpenCPN5. I correctly install the plugin ( C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenCPN )but I do not see it in the opencpn installed plugins

You can find the logfile location by clicking the question mark icon. Click on the blue link it should open.

In the logfile is there line like this? >

12:02:13: SData_Locn is C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenCPN\

Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Beta Starts

acquafredda & bcn

I have the same issue as acquafredda.

The S 63 plugin is installed

Error-message in the log
Code:
6:32:26 PM: PlugInManager: plugins loading from C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenCPN5\plugins
6:32:26 PM: PlugInManager searching for PlugIns in location C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenCPN5\plugins
6:32:26 PM: PlugInManager: Loading PlugIn: C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenCPN5\plugins\s63_pi.dll
6:32:27 PM: Error: Failed to load shared library 'C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenCPN5\plugins\s63_pi.dll' (error 126: The specified module could not be found.)
6:32:27 PM: PlugInManager: Cannot load library: C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenCPN5\plugins\s63_pi.dll
The file s63_pi.dll certainly is present at the mentioned location together with the s63_pi folder.
-----
I'm not used to installing plugins on Win10, and the behavior of O when installing in an alternative location is very irritating. Whatever location I pick O always add "\OpenCPN\" to the path. I installed the latest beta in C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenCPN5 to add "\OpenCPN\" is strange. So I have to edit the path again. O ought be a bit smarter here, look for a plugin directory in the selected location ....perhaps.
Even better... if I install O in a non standard location, let the plugins know about it and install accordingly.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Beta Starts

The trick under Windows when installing and asked for the install directory of the plug-in is
- place the cursor into the entry just behind the proposed path
- click on "space" and you will get a selection of installed OCPNs
- select the one that is the target
and "continue"

If this goes wrong now, then there would be a problem with the installer of S-63 for Win.
I'm not at my Win system right now, but two days ago ( should be the same plug-in still) no problem.

bcn/cagney...

There is indeed a problem with the s63-pi available from the O5 Plugin test page. Does not load properly, as reported. Working the problem now, new code overnight.

Thanks
Dave

Any chance you saved the report from the crash? Not reproducible here.
