Andrew... I have had to stop using MacENC sadly and miss its ability to work with iNavX. I now have a solution to make OpenCPN do what MacENC did, using my JavaScript plugin. See A more complex application in this post. It is not ready for release, but can probably do what you need. So maybe don't abandon OpenCPN forever - check back in a few months.

Hasn't there been a bug in OpenCPN for a long time making it impossible to change the status bar colors. You can change them but nothing happens, they stay the same.

Don't understand what you mean.
Now, it's possible to change the colors ; only the size is limited...

That color bug is fixed in the latest RC version.
