OpenCPN Version 5.1.529 Beta Test

Hello all OpenCPN supporters !

Continuing our Beta test, here is Beta v5.1.529

Here are the links for Windows and Mac installation packages.

The downloadable installers for Mac and Windows are here:
Windows

http://download.opencpn.org/beta/ope...8121_setup.exe

MacOS
http://download.opencpn.org/beta/Ope...+1.41d8121.pkg

For linux users running a debian-derivative distribution, you may install the Beta using your distro's package management tools.
Packages for Trusty, Xenial, Bionic, and Focal are available from the OpenCPN Beta PPA.

Please note that above links are fixed, and will not reflect the ongoing daily build cycles.
If you need to test a feature that you know or suspect has been fixed or added by a daily build, you may find it here:
https://cloudsmith.io/~david-registe...able/packages/

Here is a list of some of the corrections and new features in this Beta release:

Beta 5.1.529

1. Enable Settings->Charts->Vector Charts User Standard mode list only when User Standard mode is active
2. Implement "Head-Up" navigation mode. FS#2641
3. Correct persistence of shared waypoint visibility for hidden routes.
4. Support GTK dark mode in "Connections" panel list entries.
5. Correct update of chart downloader large chart set list, Windows only.
6. Add Chart Scale dialog, allow direct setting of Chart Scale by clicking "scale value" shown in MUIBar.
7. Correct occasional error in toolbar plugin tool rendering after tooltip rollover is hidden.
8. Integrate current translation files from crowdin.

Notes:
1. Translations: This Beta includes the current state of the crowdin translation file matrix. Some terms, added very late, are not translated. Please check your translations carefully, so that we may get complete and accurate translations for the up-coming Release.

2. Head-Up Mode: For those installations receiving HDT information from an attached heading sensor, this navigation mode orients the chart display so that the ship's head is "up", If a heading sensor is not available, the "Head-Up" mode functions identically to "Course-Up" mode, for compatibility with existing systems.

Plan:
OpenCPN V5.1 is "feature complete" now. I plan one more Beta cycle after this, before a full release as OpenCPN Version 5.2.0.
Please test hard, and be unforgiving of any errors or glitches encountered.

Thanks
Dave and the OCPN Team

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.529 Beta Test

Strange flashers in the second pane.

A track and the chart selection keys are flashing.

Hovering the mouse over a track or, I think, any object that would have a pop-up triggers it. In other cases panning the pane causes the track and chart keys to disappear.

OpenGL on. Some other odd flickers on opening settings etc.. Not consistent.

the screenshot is a GIF but CF converts it to jpg on upload...

Anything else I can provide ?

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.529 Beta Test

I still can't get on the boat so only limited off-line testing as yet. Sorry
W10 Pro 1909

1) I can't reproduce either of the effects noted above.

2) Can't update to managed versions of Weather Routing, Watchdog or VDR. The files are not found - extract from the log is attached. Update to managed version of NMEA converter is OK

3) Changes to Chart Object Scale factor on oeSENC charts still need a restart to take effect

4) Set scale works well! But zoom buttons still unusable as they zoom by over 5:1 and 1:5 even though the .ini file PlusMinusZoomFactor=2 as expected. Scales are now rounded off but inconsistent when zooming in/out. Example:-

Set scale @ 80000

80000 +14000 -76000 +13000 -65000
80000 -437000 +80000 -474000 +88000

Of course it's possible to use the keyboard if there is one but not desirable

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.529 Beta Test

The chart scale adjustment does not works correctly. The + - works Ok but not the scaling by inserting data into the window provided. Windows 10 pro.
Thanks for the update.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.529 Beta Test

Well, sorry for that but the scaling works Ok, if you enter just say 15000 instead of 1:15000. It might be a good idea to be more explicit in the future.
Good job do.

The display issue, W7, openGL on:
Is this new for 5.1.529? Or new for 5.1 in general?

Thanks
Dave

4.2.7 Is there a later version? I'm not prompted by the plug-in to update
Would re-installing bring in later changes?

Thanks

oeSENC 4.2.8 is most current, and should be available from the settings->plugins page.
Will you show me a screenshot of the plugins page, with the oeSENC entry clicked and highlighted?

Thanks
Dave

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.529 Beta Test

Some integer rounding issue when zooming - this is very visible now when entering some "round" value:

200000 -> + 100000 -> 50000 -> 25000 ->12000 -> - 25000 -> 50000 --...--> 200000 -> 399000 -> 798000

(Debian 10)

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.529 Beta Test

As noted above I get a zoom factor of 5:1 on Windows 10. Does anyone else see this or is it a quirk of my old laptop?
