I never power it off like that, it is permanently connected to the battery, with only the shutdown line controlled by a switch, using a MacArthur HAT, so it always gets a graceful shutdown. I can't say if it is a problem that is fixed, because I just leave it chmod 444 thses days, and its fine.
It's not an issue for me anymore anyway. I would like to fix the "radar not going off" bug though.

And the only place to achieve that is https://github.com/opencpn-radar-pi/radar_pi/issues/256, not ranting about it in various threads of this forum.

Re: OpenCPN General
I don't usually respond to trolls, but no one is ranting. The github thread has been dead for weeks, I don't think anyone is reading them. Notice I said "I would like to fix" not "I want someone to fix this for me", I was just looking for some information/advice/insights before I tackle it .. I'll probably end up fixing it myself and submitting a pull request, but I'm up to my neck in a C# project at the moment.

Re: OpenCPN General
The developers of the plugin are of course reading the github issues and they have responded to you there. You really need to continue the discussion there and of course submitting a pull request fixing what you consider to be a bug will get you way farther.

Re: OpenCPN General
Why is it impossible to play a sound on AIS / SART / DSC alert? The checkboxes in OpenCPN are deactivated, and I have no clue how to activate. (We just had a SART alarm, that was showing up properly, but (again) no sound...) Hope someone has the magic trick.
Perhaps this has been asked before, but I couldn't find a thread.
Okay, update: then I found the solution. One first has to go to Settings > Ships and activate:
Show CPA/TCPA alert dialog and Play Sound on CPA/TCPA Alerts and DSC emergencies, only after that the other checkboxes can be activated.
Now, perhaps this post might help someone in the future. For the developers, ... this conditional thing does not make any sense to me, and even caused some trouble. All fine now, and still very happy with OpenCPN. In case this particular thing is considered to be implemented in the appropriate way, then it would be very help full to add an instruction text next to the disable checkboxes (These can't be activated, because the ships settings have to be changed first. Or something similar).

Werner, I don't know why. I have bells checked under Options User.
Ah, ha. PIck the Sound tab and select AIS and SART, and Anchor
Also in the top menubar, under AIS is CPA sound.

OK, let's try to explain it in words that someone can actually understand...
All the alert sounds have to first be enabled in Ships->AIS targets, then the individual sounds are customizable on the User Interface tab. See the attached screenshot.
I agree this is not intuitive at all.

Re: OpenCPN General
Activate the alarms in the first screenshot and you'll be able to activate the requested alarms in the Sound menu.

Re: OpenCPN General
Corsair you found one I'd forgotten about.
We have this one because it is a PITA to drill down and find it.
It is for quickly turning on or off CPA
It may not be in the right place, but it is useful.

New barometer for OpenCPN
We have a new high-accuracy, low-cost barometer that works great in OpenCPN. This video shows how to set it up: https://youtu.be/ZqQN4uWb9hI

Re: OpenCPN General
Searching through 95 pages x 20 posts per page is just not going to happen. Sorry.
How do I delete specific folders from Migrated charts, please?
To try be more clear, if I had added a folder of charts for an area (think mbtiles charts), but I'm no longer in that area, that region's folder remains in the migrated folders, taking up valuable space on my ancient tablet.

Stingo...
Easiest way is to connect the Android device to a PC by USB cable. Then use the PC Explorer file manager to access your device files.
Thanks

Re: OpenCPN General
Stingo, bdbcat is right, but you can also use a file manager app.
