Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 5.5.928 Released

@Alll..
The Dashboard instrument "GNSS Status" is partly changed and renamed in this O version. (GPS Status ->GNSS Status)

The instrument now shows what the GNSS receiver reports about different satellite systems. We show one system at the time for 15 seconds each. There are up to six possible satellite systems.
So if you've a GNSS receiver using more than the GPS system please test.

Note: The instrument "GNSS in use" shows what the GNSS receiver reports about how many satellites from available systems are used for the position fix calculation. We may assume the "best" satellite mix from different systems are used.

When I do the update on my Windows the version 4.2.20.0 is available.

Check, now it works!

Is OpenGL support removed? The checkbox is greyed out...

MaVi....

OpenGL support is available on all platforms, normally.
Please post your logfile for analysis.

Thanks

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 5.5.928 Released

I would too, it was very quick___perhaps it found one? I will try again.

It did not show the second time I downloaded. However the same Norton and defender issues (they have not learned yet that it is ok, ...not enough users yet.)

I would like to see a screenshot of this message.

Hakan...
"If I deactivate Anchoring info at Canvas hamburger menus it's again activated at next O restart.
Is that a bug or a feature?"

Definitely a bug.
Now corrected in github.

Thanks for the catch.

Off course the term is perfectible and can be changed

Though I fail to see why you would want to do that a more descriptive, but at the expense of longer, would be "Delete leg to make two routes"

Thanks. Confirmed. Although I may have preferred it default activated like the other similar preferences?
Code:
Read(_T ( "canvasENCShowAnchorInfo" ), &cConfig->bShowENCAnchorInfo, 0);

Legacy plugin installation

I have just installed v5.5.928 on MacOS.

I want to install my JavaScript v0.4 plugin. My JS release after this will adopt the new method but for this one, I want to use the old installer method as Xcode is generating a .pkg installer. I know this is deprecated but that term implies it should work for now.

I run the installer and all the plugin stuff is put in the right place in the application package. But it is not appearing in the list of plugins within the options. What must I do so that OpenCPN sees it?

Antipole...
Take a look at the OCPN logfile is it searches for and installs "managed" plugins. You will want to arrange for your old style plugin to be installed in the directory that OCPN searches, so that it can be found. Otherwise, no changes necessary.

Thanks
Dave

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 5.5.928 Released

It seems that loading the plugin fails
Symbol not found: __ZN12wxDataObject17AddSupportedTypesEPv
and it is then 'jailed' - has jailed extension added.

Plugin is built with wxWidgets 3.1.2 whereas this OpenCPN uses wxWidgets 3.1.5
Mike indicates this is a no no and maybe that is my problem.

Antipole...

Yes, that sounds right. wxWidgets 3.15 is not ABI compatible with 3.12. This change happened only on OCPN for MacOS. Other platforms are not affected.

Yes, that is correct the MacOS plugins should now be built using wxWidgets 3.1.5 that was very recently changed by bdbcat and leamas.

Also here is a page from the new Dev Manual that will help with the new path.

https://opencpn-manuals.github.io/de...hs.html#_macos

You may also want a user writable data directory, as the data directory used for installation is not user writable. If so, you will need to make a couple of changes to the plugin to use the typical user writable data directory. See
Read about this here https://opencpn-manuals.github.io/de...er_config_path
and note that This path is available in the API using the getpPrivateApplicationDataLocation() function.

Screen metrics wrong on Windows

I have a Windows 10 notebook with a hires 3840 x 2160 screen. Since the screen is physically just 15 inches I need to run Windows with the display scaling set to 250%. This works fine for every app I have EXCEPT OpenCPN, which thinks I have a screen that is 250% bigger than it actually is.

The result is that zooming to the cursor doesn't work, the GPS status window is somewhere off the screen, and screen metrics are generally wrong.

To summarise: if I set Windows Display Scaling to anything other than 100% then OpenCPN screen metrics are incorrect.

re: "Screen metrics.........."

I can agree this may be a more common issue. We have heard it before here on the Forum and I myself have a laptop where Windows recommend 200% scaling as the "normal" setting but O is not happy with that so I use 150% instead.
Could it be wxWidgets is not prepared for Windows' use of scaling?
