Hakan....

Can you build from source? If so, you could "fix" the ECRMC sentence structure, as test it.

It's not doing this for me, Gilletarom. When I export all, my layers are NOT included.
Yes, I plead the error. I beg you to forgive me.

That said, I stand by my idea for an extra button (collective) the manager of roads / tracks / Waypoint to put in a gpx file, only what is visible on the chart. (With visible eye in the manager)

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.1.1224 Released

The last days we had the opportunity to make some larger tours (8 hours aprox. each) and suffered about six crashes of OpenCPN in the two tracks. We didn't find any patter, the log does not show any strange entries neither. The program just hangs (W7) and has to be aborted. Something to be checked again with the .13 beta.
As the crashes lead to several disconnected tracks those have been "stiched" with the route manager. At the stiching points there appears an error:
- a later entry is proceeded by an earlier one
- and therefore (?) a speed of 0 appears.

bcn...

I'm concerned about the crashes.
Tell us more about your hardware environment, please.

Thanks
Dave

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.1.1224 Released

Hi Dave,

DELL ATG running W7.
Data input (GPS/AIS) is from an em-trak B100 via USB with the latest patches from em-trak, including the driver.
The PC is run from a DC outlet, hibernation is disabled (as far one can get that stuff disabled under Windows).
The program just stalls after some time -we had intervals between 20 minutes and hour an a half - without any user input, getting the Windows message about "Program X does not response anymore....).

Usually we can just kill O and restart, the USB signal reconnects correctly but two or three we had to use the task manager to kill it. In this cases there have been blue screens on restart, so not so funny.

Any idea if there are additional log files from the OS side we can look at?

Dave..
First:
Today's Test using issue 3.1.1309 gave that the autopilot now understood the ECRMC sentence! Very good but I cant understand why. The pattern for the magnetic variation field is still the same??? So, maybe it was something else than the extended amount of decimals. But they are still present and that differs from any other NMEA source I've seen.
And sorry I've very limited experiences from any C. I tried to read in the code but couldn't find anything more then that the variable format is double and that's all. Could someone maybe have access to a GPS coding to check how they get just 5 characters in the string? (Single instead of double??)

Second:
Data output and filtering in combination with more then one serial port for beta 3.1.1309 seems to be corrupt or some other better word. I'll make a report in that thread instead. But maybe not earlier than tomorrow.

Thanks and "see" you there

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.1.1224 Released

Hakan....

Bingo. Suddenly my brain kicks into gear.

I had exactly the same trouble on my Gulf Stream crossing two weeks ago with 3.1.1224. No autopilot routing, although I could see the output in the NMEA debug window.

Then I fixed it for 1309:
129. Correct error on consecutive fast serial port write() access.

What was happening was this:
The ECRMB message was followed very quickly by the ECRMC message. In fact, the ECRMB message never actually went out. It was accidentally overwritten in the output handler cache by the RMC message.

So, the fault has nothing to do with the format of RMC. It was an internal OCPN problem.

I think ECRMC format is OK, even with extra decimal places. Anyway, it conforms to NMEA0183 standard, no matter how many decimals, AFAICT.

So there...

Thanks
Dave

Very good and thanks for the explanation. You're a wizard at this. Try to work around my sometimes far-fetched solutions next time.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.1.1224 Released

This idea is probably way late, but I've been reading about networking issues in Opencpn and remembered SOB had some information/capabilities on this, which will probably differ, but might be useful in some ways, clarifying terminology and showing another solution. I am sorry I did not think of it sooner. Maybe it will be helpful anyway. It had to be split into two pdfs.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.1.1224 Released

Hi
I am using OpenCPN for the first time and intend to use it on Danube river with the ENC charts published by the waterway authorities. For me it is a very good and useable program.

I just want to report a crash, that does not happen with "SeeMyEnc".

Attached are the logfile and the map-file the causes the crash. Opencpn just disappears.

I compiled the version 3.1.1224 myself on the OpenSuse 12.2 linux system. All updates are installed, so I think it is the current version. The sound works, no problem there. The computer is Samsung X460.

If anyone wants to read the attachements, just omit .kml.

This is only intended as information, as I can manage without that map. I do not have any idea where the fault may be.

Thanks Hakan for your persistence, study and techniques. I find am earning through you... Perhaps that is why you get no response, but and O is getting better too! It is new territory for many. Much appreciated.

Hi Guys, thanks for the great work, esp the mux/nmea stuff! Any chance you can add APB native support so those of us with simrad AP24/28 Autopilots can use OCPN??
