Hi Rick,

You can read this sentence in the preference window.

Re: OCPN Draw 1.4 available

Thanks Serge.

Jon says
Quote:
...allows you to delete ALL the settings associated with OD when you close OCPN. There was a discussion a little while ago about how to clean out completely the settings in opencpn.ini/conf, this was a quick way of doing that. The next time you start OCPN with the OD plugin you will get all the defaults that are current.
I think this is an excellent idea. Currently says...

Quote:
"Delete current OCPN_Draw entries (No)"
Is the below correct?
"Yes, removes the plugin's user settings (in openpn.ini) upon close of OpenCPN. Next start of Opencpn will reinitialize the plugin settings with current defaults."

Are entities affected? Paths, OD Points & Layers?
Are they removed and cleaned out?
Will they change due to the new default settings?

I don't know where I've been, but how does the navobj backup work?
Just saving 1, 2, 3 copies of the OD objects with ODnavobj.xml? I believe they are separate files.... should it say ODnavobj?

Is there a clearer way to state this?

Re: OCPN Draw 1.4 available

Hi Rick,
This setting only affects the ini/conf file, it removes the complete section "Settings/ocpn_draw_pi" so any 'left over' settings are also removed. There is no effect on any objects that are managed by the ODnavobj.xml files. All values needed are stored in the xml file and none of the defaults are applied to the objects properties.

Nav Object Backups creates the number of backups you want (min 0 max 10), i.e. ODnavobj.xml.1, ODnavobj.xml.2, etc.. These work exactly the same as for OCPN, a new one will only be created if there is a change in content since OCPN/OD was started. To use them, rename the ODnavobj.xml file to something else and then copy the backup to ODnavobj.xml, this must be done wtih OCPN NOT running. Then when you start OCPN you will be using the contents of the backup you copied rather than the one created when you stopped OCPN.

Regards
Jon

Re: OCPN Draw 1.4 available

Jon,

That's an excellent description. Thank you. Can I add this to your documentation somewhere?

Also is there any possibility of renaming Navobj to ODnavobj at some point when you are doing POT to avoid confusion?

For the line: "Delete current OCPN_Draw entries (No)"
how about something like
"Remove the current odraw user settings (in opencpn.ini) on shutdown and restore to default upon restart. Does not affect existing entities.

Re: OCPN Draw 1.4 available

Hi jongough,
I think there is a small problem with the OCPN Draw PI. I am using a MacBook Pro, OpenCPN 4.8.2 and OCPN Draw 1.4. I cannot turn off the Boundary Point Icons after unchecking "Show Boundary Point Icons" in the Boundary Properties window. I would like to turn the icons off as they clutter the screen when I zoom out.

Re: OCPN Draw 1.4 available

Which version are you using? You need to go to 'opencpn/settings/plugins/OCPN_Draw/properties' then look at the about tab. It will give you the patch level you are using. The latest, 1.4.69, should work OK, but I cannot test on a Mac as I don't have one.

I cannot get to a machine for testing for another week, so cannot check it out (there have been quite a few changes over the last few weeks and one of these 'may' have a regression in it)

Regards
Jon

Don't think I attached the screenshot correctly - try again.

If you have a compiled version of the latest PI for the Mac, then I can test it for you.

Re: OCPN Draw 1.4 available

Hi Kevinvh,
I cannot build the plugin for a Mac as I don't have one, sorry. Rick may know someone who can build you a version, Rick?. I may be able to get the current patch level built as the new distribution for the plugin, but have been waiting to see if there are any more changes needed to improve performance when using large numbers of objects (1000s) and using the API/Messaging for boundary checking (this is used in weather routing).

Regards
Jon

.

https://github.com/did-g/ocpn_draw_p...1_5_2018_04_11

for opencpn 4.8.2 on OSX, Windows and Linux 64 bits, may or may not work for you.

ocpn_draw-Plugin_1.5.4.pkg for Mac is not working. The installer appears to work OK, but ocpn_draw-Plugin_1.5.4 does not appear in Options/Plugins. If I install ocpn_draw-Plugin_1.4.4 then it appears OK in Options/Plugins and works OK. There seems to something wrong with the installer.

Log file attached. This was after I loaded ocpn_draw-Plugin_1.5.4.pkg and looked for it under Options/Plugins.

Takes someone smarter than me to work out what it means.
