o-charts Italy unavailable

I'll be travelling to Sardinia in a few months and need the Italian charts for this purpose. For some reason the charts from Italy are 'temporary unavailable' on o-charts. Anyone here knows why and how long this probably will take? Is there a reliable alternative? We use OpenCPN. Thx!

I have travelling Sardignia all the time until last year using cm93v2 with no problems. CM93v2 is for free.

Thanks! Good to know an alternative exists. Do you know where to find one? What year should I get? I understand it can be dangerous to rely on these charts, especially between Corsica and Sardinia. Is this true? I would love to hear about your first hand experience. Thanks.

Regarding the availibility of the Italian o-charts set this depends on the Italian Authorities. We are waiting for their response about some issues since quite some time.


CM93/2 (=CMap 93 version 2): Version two was discontinued by CMap about ten years ago. These were commercial charts mainly licensed by merchant vessels. "Free" does just mean that some copies of those sets are circulating still.
When using them be conscious that for example lights, exclusion zones, traffic zones or buoys have not been updated since then. Nor any other date or object.

The latest time passing the Street of Bonifacio was year 2021. Entering Bonifacio at this time was OK to get Diesel but they refused to stay because of Covic restrictions. I have used cm93v2 May 2015. You might get it from:

Thanks all. It looks like I need to do some extensive further investigation as this opens a whole new can of worms for me I didn't know about earlier. :-)
