O-Chart Maps not downloading, MacBook

OK I am having what is probably a utter novice type issue...


Today I installed OpenCPN on a new MacBook Pro M3.
That went fine.
I installed the o-chars plug in.
No problem.

I then went to the o-charts "shop" and purchased download rights for the "Canada 2023 - Pacific Coast" chart set.

Now, as expected, in the Options panel I see the o-charts tab and having clicked on "Refresh chart list" I see expected chart.

When I select the chart I see: "Status: Ready for Download Request", and the expected "Order Reference", and "System Key".

However when I click "Download Selected Chart" it pauses for a few seconds at "Requesting License Keys" then come back with a pop up that says:
"o-Charts shop interface error result" and nothing more.


This sequence is repeatable.
Any thoughts, or suggestions would be appreciated.

Well a new day dawns. I pressed the same button and the install works. I guess their back end just needed time to process.

FYI,

• the O-charts are identical to CHS vector
• they are kept up-to-date with CHS vector (assuming YOU do updates), but sometimes 1 month behind
• O-Charts/CHS vector Pacific Canada have a few "gaps". From my review: (i) Englefield Bay, (ii) southern portion of Masset Inlet & Juskatla Inlet, and (iii) Sea Otter Cove (near Cape Scott). There ARE older CHS raster charts for these missing areas (although CHS no longer sells raster chart sets, many of us have them).

Of course, there remain uncharted areas in BC, mostly in Haida Gwaii.


CHS is actively doing new depth surveys and putting out new charts (for example, 2 new charts for west coast Moresby Island in 2023) and makes unofficial soundings freely available ("NONNA10"). I've made satellite "charts" with these soundings for many BC areas. OpenCPN is fantastic for this feature (that you can use all types of charts).

An external server had a hick-up and this has been resolved this morning (UTC+1 is our time zone). Just before the long weekend.....
