Finally, a Way to Download Big, Detailed Maps from Google Maps !

Ever wanted to download highly detailed images (road maps/satellite/terrain/hybrid over large areas from google maps? Check out google map buddy, I stumbled across this via the site lifehacker. It allows you to select an area of map and a desired detail(zoom) level of the area, It will download 256x256 images and stitch them together into a large full size image to be printed out wall mural size or to keep on your laptop while visiting remote islands.. Be careful with the zoom level, you may spend a lot of time waiting for your computer to download and compile the images

after you install google earth, look at the top of the screen for a ruler, you can do a single straight line or a path which is straight lines joined together.
