NMEA 2000: comm priorities

I have two sources of speed through water. Well, one is from a Nexus network, which does not have a sensor anymore but still transmits 0 kts all the time. And the other source is the real one.

I cannot set the comm priorities since STW does not show up there.

<GREEN>18:31:45 (N2000) PGN: 128259 Source: nmea2000 socketCAN-can0 ID: 0 Desc: DBoard: Speed through water
<GREEN>18:29:34 (N2000) PGN: 128259 Source: nmea2000 socketCAN-can0 ID: 35 Desc: DBoard: Speed through water

Is there a way to force commpriorities to offer a choice on STW?

Best,

Manfred

Re: NMEA 2000: comm priorities

Manfred..
This is not easy but basically Dashboard tries to keep to the first source received. If the priority works as expected it should show the value from only one and not mix them. Can you confirm that?
If so the the only advice I can give is to disconnect the Nexus until good a STW are received and then connect it again. There is no method for user prioritization like for nav-data in OCPN.

The best way is of course to try to convince Nexus to not send valid data, like "0", when there is no working source but I think you have investigated that?

Re: NMEA 2000: comm priorities

Hakan,

thanks for your reply.

I know that the best fix is to silence the Nexus system. And I tried hard. However, not successful, even after contacting customer support here. I like to keep it alive since the wind sensor is superb, and the displays are very good as well.

I can use Signal K to set priorities, but was hoping that OpenCPN could do it as well.
