Raymarine NMEA 2000 -> NMEA 2000 cable

According to this ITC5 review, this is possible by making a cable:

"One star off, Raymarine, for inventing a way to make NMEA 2000 proprietary. Fortunately the unit will talk on an NMEA 2000 network with the appropriate adapter cable. I chose to make one with Maretron's field-installable connector, and to terminate my boat's back-bone on the bridge with a resistor on this ITC-5. Soon I'll be removing that resistor and extending the SeaTalkNG side of the network to install some RayMarine displays."

anyone know the pin outs ?

The seatalk ng and nmea 2000 cables are same color. Just cut end off The seatalkng cable and stick on Field end. It’s colour coded.

Or buy the pre made adapter cable.

As smac9999 says, the Ray connector just has an extra pin with a yellow wire that you don’t use for N2K.

Newer Ray equipment drops the proprietary connector and the daisy-chain at the instrument because they got taken to task by the N2K organization.

The yellow wire is for old SeaTalk devices, like ST60 wind/depth/speed for example. If you have those as well (which I did) its pretty easy to get that over do your devicenet buss too.

You can actually buy ready made adapter cables for seatalk-ng to nmea2000. See for example defender.com. They have a variety of adapter cables in different lengths and genders.

AT my local marine supply place the Raymarine adapter cable pre made is 8$ more than just the maretron connector itself, you still have to supply the cable and waste your time putting it on.
32 or 34$ a piece depending on male or female!
