Multiple Installs that share chart folders, routes, etc.

We have three installs of OpenCPN. One is on our laptop, one is on our nav desk Linux server that is also running a second instance in a second account so we can remote in from our iPad.

Is there a way to sync these instances so they use the same charts (a network share maybe?)

How about routes, marks, tracks? I know I can send to peer from the laptop to the server but I can’t make it work from one user to another on the same server since the ip addresses are the same.

If it's a solution one "normal" and one portable instance can run and "send to peer" on the same machine (same IP).

Indeed run the 'iPad' user as portable and you can use send to peer.

Then make a new user say charts, and add the group charts to both the normal user and user ipad. And finally give group members write access to /home/charts (sudo chmod -R 770 /home/charts)
Install the charts here and the can be used from both opencpn instances

But, if I remember correctly, OpenCPN cannot run on an Ipad (Apple). You absolutely need an Android device.

VNC Virtual Network Computing
Sharing the graphics screen of one computer, and keyboard and mouse controls, via the network (LAN or Internet). There are many variants of this, some work cross platform, android, ipad, windows.

VNC is platform-independent – there are clients and servers for many GUI-based operating systems. Java is used.

RealVNC continued working on open-source VNC software.

However I think that AnyDesk is very good, and is free provided you follow their license.

Teamviewer LAN, RealVNC, TigerVNC, UltraVNC, VNC viewer remote desktop, Logmein, what else is there? What do users suggest?
