ownership, registrations, tax etc etc etc, (future boat owner)

Hi

Im very confused about a lot of things around owning a boat and although I could check with local authorities they will not be as fast as you guys, so....

Im planning to buy a boat sometime by the end of the next year and realize one of my long-time dreams.
Im a Swedish citizen living in Hungary and would probably have a future boat "parked" somewhere in croatia (istria).

what are the rules of ownership and taxes?
In which country should/could I register the boat?
I assume I pay all fees related to the ownership in that same country?!

Whats the difference (economical, administrative) between
A) purchase a boat in Europe (tax paid)
B) Purchase a boat in the caribbean that has not been taxed

Im not even sure if I ask relevant questions so if some friendly sould could explain the above to me I would be extremely gratefull.

I'm completely ignorant of Croatian requirements, but here are a couple of websites that I found through Googling. Hope they are of some help. You're wise to try to figure out the taxation aspects beforehand. It's all too easy to make a mistake and subject yourself to double taxation, at least in some jurisdictions.
