Corsair...
Looked at your logfile.
It appears that you have set Options->Display->OpenGL->Options->"Software OpenGL".

Please try with this option (Software OpenGL) OFF.

Thanks
Dave

Already done, Always working with OpenGL OFF, in the log should be the moments I'm trying to find the source of the problem, otherwise with OpenGL ON I cannot work with OpenCPN, it takes ages to do any task on it.

I'll send another fresh log file in the course of this morning.

I mean OpenGL ON, but "Software OpenGL" OFF.
Please try. Then stop OCPN, delete the logfiles, and start OCPN again. Stop OCPN immediately, and post the much shorter logfile.

Thanks
Dave

Re: Grey band in O-charts

I guess should be this way:

in .ini file

OpenGL=1
SoftwareGL=0

included .ini and short .log also two screenshots.

the chart could be seen complete, but there are some borders and text that are not shown correctly.

Re: Grey band in O-charts

Corsair...

Getting closer...
From the log, I see that this device uses a very ancient and slow software emulation of OpenGL.

Code:
15:27:04.809 MESSAGE glChartCanvas.cpp:1246 OpenGL-> Renderer String: GDI Generic
15:27:04.809 MESSAGE glChartCanvas.cpp:1255 OpenGL-> Version reported:  1.1.0

Is it possible to find an updated OpenGL driver for this box?

Hi bdbcat,

the tablet is updated to latest drivers either software.
everything related to windows ARM64 it's really very complicated, because drivers must be signed and specifically compiled for ARM64.

at this time I don't know how to find newer drivers, because everything is deployed by Microsoft and I got some days ago a system update (maybe BIOS)

A Google search "Microsoft Surface Pro X OpenGL driver" will give several hours of reading....
Especially interesting:

Hi Dave,

downloaded and installed file of the link in the Microsoft Store, now it seems that everything is working fine:

Quote:
17:14:02.498 MESSAGE glChartCanvas.cpp:1246 OpenGL-> Renderer String: D3D12 (Qualcomm(R) Adreno(TM) 680 GPU)
17:14:02.498 MESSAGE glChartCanvas.cpp:1255 OpenGL-> Version reported: 4.1 (Compatibility Profile) Mesa 22.2.0-devel (git-98e63d66e2)
attached screenshot, .ini and .log files for this operation only.

now I can see correctly the charts.

is it normal to see the borders of the scale charts so thick? (highlighted in screenshot)
and
also with OpenGL activated I can work and move inside the program.

I have always said it,

Re: Grey band in O-charts

Hi,

I reopen this threat, because I have also problems with "grey zones".

I have just decieded to use OpenCPN after paylaing around with it for a while. After playing only with the software I decided to buy one O-Chart.
Until here everything was fine. Today I bought some more O-Charts an installed them.
After this I have some of this grey zones in the charts. They are not on screen when I zoom in max. But come back when zooming out. Ther is no good overview fo planning longer passages.
Also now OpenCPN has crashed a few times.

I am using a WIN10 machine.

thanks
molly

Re: Grey band in O-charts

Molly,

it's strange the areas that you've greyed, it seems to be areas of charts not loaded.

have you defined the correct path for charts?
or have you available those set of charts?

it's only a guess.

Re: Grey band in O-charts

Molly..
Try:
Set vector chart zoom scale weighting to -1 for a test.
Be sure to have latest o-chart plugin.
In options->Charts->Chart files check and apply "Force full database rebuild"
