Thanks.
Right now the way around it is placing the point approximately and later right-clicking it, choosing WP properties from the menu and copy-pasting the desired coordinates. Not perfect but works...
Making the parser smarter and handle more possible formats is on (at least mine) to do list as soon as I come back to Europe and get to a computer with a normally sized keyboard in March.
Automating the opening of the properties dialog if you (for example) hold shift while placing the routepoint should also not be a big problem.

Would be great, it's a very useful feature. I implemented this for ver. 1.3.6, but it is not included in later versions. Just in case, the source was posted Forums - Post 416763">here. This certainly can be improved upon.

Peevish, butWhy does cursor change to GREEN ARROW at borders and corners?...I mean,if I have put the cursor there it's as easy (and more intuitive )to "click-n-drag " or use keyboard arrow-keys to pan.....Is there another reason for it?Otherwise seems distracting when I want to place a cursor on a feature and see a distance/brg from Ownship or whatever.See,my zoom level will be chosen for clarity but at the same time,I want all the area I can on screen...

I find that sort of screen navigation to be highly personal. Some love it, some hate it. Never been a fan myself since MS Streets & Trips used it in 2003. Doesn't bug me too much, but being able to switch it on and off would certainly please the most folks.

Thanks.
You can already make wp in Route Manager by typing coordinates.

own ship.

Does anyone know if or how to get back to own ship location on a chart on ocpn without having to drag the chart? On Nobeltec and I believe some others there is a button on the tool bar for this. I think it would be a really handy feature to add if it is not allready built in somewhere that I can't find.

From the instruction manual:

Clicking the Auto Follow button will center the chart directly on your vessel's current location. If the the gps is working own ship is red otherwise the icon is gray.

True enough-I am peevish... because thinking on it,I can see the green arrow might be very handy for people using touchscreens...tap tap tap.

Dan..

Just noticed Fugawi ENC have recently added a FREE GoogleEarth plug-in.
A great feature and a MUST for OpenCPN I think...

Have a look....

No,at this stage it appears not to plot your position on GE but I guess it will once they
sort out their 'experimental' transparent map overlay function.

Hi Torre ... boy you are quick! After making my posting I found this:

Fugawi Google Earth Plug-in

... which says it DOES plot your position. I then deleted my posting.

Sorry for the confusion.

You might be interested in my GE project at:

Fugawi Plotting on chart and Fugawi GE window

Fugawi does plot in both the chart and in its GE window

Zoom in or panning the chart window is duplicated in the GE window Also GE window can be zoomed or panned independently. I have justed tested offline and the plot in the GE window continues to work. Must be pulling data from the GE local cache

To do this OpenCPN will need some internet connection capability which could assist photo Waypoints such as via Panorama

regards

My first test of the Fugawi GE plug-in was only showing AIS targets in the map window and not in the GE one. See the yellow targets in the map area.I did not check further, but will do so today. In any case,a great feature.

GE Feature request for OpenCpn

I have not tried the ais but I will today I use a live feed from San Francisco. You can also overlay a chart in the GE window and set its transparency. One problem with the GE plugin is that it takes over control of your GE on your computer using the settings you may have already set such as grid overlay and terrain settings. Also you cannot open GE whislt Fugawi is running the plugin as it ia already running as. This seems to be a Fugawi discussion but it should be seen as features in other programs we would like to see bigger and better (and cheaper) in OpenCPN
