Chart objects and ATONs too small and no info displayed

I'm using v5.8.4.0 on a MacBook pro. My ENC charts show ATONS and other objects but they are way too small even when zoomed in all the way. There is no ATON info shown. I have to right click on it to get info. I have reloaded the charts, rebooted everything, selected "ALL" in display options, and played with the Apple display options. No change.

Options|UserInterface
below individual scalings. Play with those.

There is no recipe to make everybody happy by default given the zoo of very different systems, displays, resolutions, etc. Plus personal preferences.

Re: Chart objects and ATONs too small and no info displayed

Thanks, That helped with the size of chart objects but I'm still not getting buoy/light info without doing an object query.

Hovering over?
Btw.: the ENCs you are using? Or better Waters where the ATONs are showing up?

ATONs are showing up on all Vector charts that I just downloaded. When I go to the panel options menu and toggle on "buoy/light labels" or "light descriptions" nothing happens. All the other selections change when I toggle them.

That's not what AtoNs do provide.

I don't get the yellow box when I hover over a marker. I do get the box when I hover over a route that I've created.

I think there may be some confusion here.

When you right click on an object such as a buoy or a light, you can view the characteristics of the buoy (eg. Buoy Lateral Starboard or Light Fl (1) W 5s).

I think you are expecting that when you hover over a buoy that is also an ATON that you will see the "yellow box" that has the ATON information.

You will only see this ATON information when you are also receiving AIS messages from your AIS receiver/transceiver. AIS ATON's can either be physical (the transmitter is part of the buoy), synthetic (the transmitter is elsewhere) or virtual (the buoy or object does not physically exist)

This broadcast AIS ATON information is not part of an ENC chart.

What may also be confusing the issue is that on some charts (I've seen this on NOAA US Charts), some chart object information also includes ATON information (see attached image). This information indicates that the object also has an AIS ATON transmitter, but until you receive the AIS transmission, the "yellow" box" will not appear.

Think of it as like reading the TV Guide. You can see the news will be broadcast on ABC at 7:00pm, but until you turn on the TV, you won't receive the news.

Re: Chart objects and ATONs too small and no info displayed

Thank you. Yes I can right click and select object query to get AtoN info. I will play with it some more when I get within range of an AIS AtoN. I'm in the process of setting up the wifi AIS.
Thanks again.
