Chart files are present but Chart Status Bar is blank

Go to Options->Charts (not chart downloader). What directories do you see there?

If you see directories there check both "Scan Charts and Update Database" and "Force Full Database Rebuild". Then click OK.

If you don't see directories then you have to put something there. Click "Add Directory" and navigate to the top level folder where you put your charts. Add that folder and then click "Select Folder" then "OK" in the Chart Files dialog.

And enable chart outlines (the "O" shortcut key) to show places with installed charts. Zoom in there.

The expected directory had been there since my original attempt -- and i had tried the Scan & Update ops. This time i removed the directory and readded it. The Scan & Update window clearly stepped thru a number of operations but at the end still a blank Chart Status Bar. It'll toggle visibility but, when visible has nothing in it.
