Cant install Open CPN Google Earth plugin

When I download the gecomapi_win32_pi16_v010_pi.dll plugin from the Open cpn plugin page and put it into the plugin folder then go to tools and then plugins its not there in the list.
Ive downloaded it a few times and tried with Open cpn versions 3.0.2 3.2.2 and 3.3
I think my methods are OK as I have successfully downloaded and enabled a few other plugins without a problem.
Iam using XP-SP3

Sorry, but I have no idea how to find the Open CPN log files

The question mark in the tool bar: the first tab indicates where you find the log.

You can post it here. The paperclip at the redaction window of the forum.
Due to size restrictions you might be required to change the extension to .jpg...

In my version 3.0.2 the ? did not show anything about the log file. I have run out of time and I am off on a quick two month sail in familiar waters tomorrow so will do without the GE plugin for now but will return to it on my return.
I guess I should get the latest version of Open Cpn 3.2.2 again and look for the log file there.
