Headsets for two-way communication?

We use our cell phones bluetoothed to our headphones/hearing aids.

I was a nay-sayer, and even made fun of people using them - but we bought a set of "Marriage Savers" on special at a boat show. Now I would not leave the dock without them! Especially good in windy conditions and at when on deck at night!

I have a set of the EarTecs and they have worked great for many years, are fully duplex, and are clear and crisp enough to provide a near flawless communication ability. The only quibble I have is that the batteries in mine discharge while not in use and must be removed to recharge them. (i.e. a first world problem.)

They would be better with batteries that don't discharge when not in use and could be charged via a USB connector. The manufacturer may have already addressed this in newer versions but I have not checked on that point.

Eartec Ultralight headsets are great. They are full duplex meaning no buttons to push and the dound quality is great, better than my iPhone 14 pro. The range is great, my boat is 40’ and there’s absolutely no issue, I believe the stated range is a couple hundred feet. They were rated best of all wireless headsets. My wife and I use them with our trawler, going thru locks and docking. While somewhat expensive, really top quality. Highly recommend

A few of the guys I am working with at the moment use Peltor Radio Ear defenders, very very noisy where we are, but they can stand next to 2000hp engines at full throttle and calmly talk to each other. They may even be standing in different areas alongside different engines. Very impressive.

We haven't had any issues hearing around the SENA earpieces, either. Not an issue.

We've used the Eartec Ultralite for years. They're called Marriage Savers around here (PNW) I added eyeglass lanyards so that if the headset falls off it hangs on my neck. Call Earthtec directly, they may have a special.
We had tried walkie-talkies with headsets, they were a nuisance. Bluetooth to a phone could be cumbersome too. The Eartecs are so easy, just turn them on and talk. Worth the investment!

Yes they worked just fine on a 68 foot trawler from the bridge to the bow to the stern to the engine room. The are crystal clear and fit all sizes. I recommend them.

Yikes! I just saw the price of those Eartec headsets. A bit steep. Maybe just FRS radios with headsets and boom mics?

We tried a two-way headset and my husband hated them. So we just yell at each other.
