It would probably be funny to have a few dozen goats delivered at the same time and maybe a couple of mariachi bands would be good too. I can also see the potential of having a dump truck deliver several tons of sand or gravel in his lawn as well. I've never tried any of these, but it sounds nice. They'll need some food, so maybe a couple hundred pizzas could be delivered at the right time.
Sarafina, I know of a certain Catholic family man who deserves a little thank you for his donation to some gay rights organizations. Thanks!

I'm wondering if his new gay porn subscription should be sent to his home, office or charity in his name?

Re: Bullying on the Waterway ( Sunset Lake, Miami )
This guy sounds like a total tool.....having lived on a canal like that in the past (my parent's house) one would think that a new addition or change to the view would be welcome. A little different scenery and then after a day or two the boat leaves and the scenery changes again. Funny how the type of people who behave like this are always the same kind of unfriendly a-holes.

As the original poster of this thread, I have to agree. I would not suggest doing anything illegal etc. While we were there, we did not even shine our 2 Million Candle power spot light on his house, or blast on sound system at him, just so he would not have any reason to call the authorities.

I'm sure the traditional flaming paper bag of dog poop left on the doorstep is not illegal. I believe it is defined in the Constitution as a "youthful prank."

Close knit you guys are a class act.
I did notice that the boat is quite the "derelict".. It must have just killed this guy that he had to put up with you all night.. You can, however notify the police after 11pm in Miami for noise pollution. Coming topside with a video camera may have tempered his behavior if he thought you were taping him for posterity and YouTube.

Perhaps...but here in Fla we have an ongoing land dwellers vs boaters war. For us boaters to act in anything less than adult fashion in such encounters only looks bad for our side of the dock. We have a lot of ammo in our arsenal that we can legally use to embarass a bully like that. Bully's really dislike public outing especially if they head a multimillion dollar firm.
Cormorant, with all due respect, you do not live here in Fla at the moment. It has gotten ugly in some parts of the state over one's right to view the water. It is us vs them in a big way. It will only get worse... ymmv

Re: Bullying on the Waterway ( Sunset Lake, Miami )
Wow ! this home owner wants to get a life ! MV closeknit you should have gone on deck and danced to his music even if it was rap, it would have been worth it to see his face, this guy is unbelieveable my first thought was it would be good to organize a flotilla of various craft ,hang washing from life lines ,rigging just to drive him nuts but then he nodoubt would record this and use it against crusiers so what to do, call the authorities ?and hope justice prevails ?

Re: Bullying on the Waterway ( Sunset Lake, Miami )
We put up with this same nonsense in January of this year when we anchored in Sunset Lake. Fred played loud salsa music for several hours (my husband is Colombian so we enjoyed it thoroughly), and originally aimed the zillion candlepower spotlight on the boat that was directly behind his house. Then my husband made the mistake of coming out on deck to see what was going on….the spotlight was then aimed at us for most of the night. We loved it. When my husband came out during the night to check the anchor, etc he certainly didn’t need a flashlight. We stayed 2 nights just because we could.

Chances are good that Mr. Karlton and his team of high-priced legal talent are very familiar with all of the pertinent laws, rules and regulations that relate to his actions, as are his neighbors . . . and the "music" ends exactly at 11pm.

Re: Bullying on the Waterway ( Sunset Lake, Miami )
My take is that if anchoring there was illegal (criminal or civil) that Fred would have mentioned it and called the cops and / or his lawyer would have been in contact.
How about organising boat based "Fred Parties" in that location? The more the merrier 24/7 rock on dude

Re: Bullying on the Waterway ( Sunset Lake, Miami )
What an ass.. While I am not suggesting this. One now has access to his email address. One "could" simply type the word Subscribe into google (at an internet cafe of course) and simply arrange email subscriptions from all sorts of websites of ones choosing. After an hour or so his inbox will soon give him information on everything from gay porn to how to play the xylophone. But I am not suggesting that- ehem. Or one could befreind him on facebook, then befriend his buddies. Then simply post on FB what you did here and let his buddies and workmates see his bad behaviour.
On a more serious note. You did the right thing by staying the night. Otherwise it would have worked for him and he will continue to let his bad behaviour push boaters around. Oddly enough, I notice in the photo of his house that he owns a boat. I wonder if he has ever anchored near a house.

Re: Bullying on the Waterway ( Sunset Lake, Miami )
You do not need to be accepted by him on Facebook to see AND email his friends. It would be pretty funny if you opened up a page as an investment manager/banker under a different name then went back and eddited the page and changed the name to your boats name with pics and post on his wall "Remeber Me?".
