I am having trouble exporting a Routing from qtvlm to opencpn on a PC. Couls somehow walk me through this after the routing from point A to B has been created based on grib files? I can seem to export a Route but that yields an empty .gpx file. Do I need to turn a Routing into a Route first, and if so, how is that done?

Hello,

The procedure is to convert the routing in a route (edit the routing and select "Convert to route"), then right-click on the route and choose "copy to clipboard". Then you can paste it in O (ctrl-v).

Note that after the conversion is done, before copying it to O, you can simplify the route to remove useless points (minimum simplification is better than maximum quality wise).

Hi Maitai,

Is there any way to set the timezone when viewing the gribs and/or route planning?

I have looked everywhere, and I can't find anything. I would really to be able to set a timezone so i dont have to keep manually converting from GMT.

No, sorry. There is no way for the time being to do that, all dates are expressed in GMT.

Hwecken, you must be daft to enter this grueling marathon! What are you doing to get prepared?

Last time I found myself up at 2am and then at 5am because I wanted to be sure I was on the right route, and then lost 70 places at the end because my endpoint was misplaced! ..and my friends tell me I should have been disqualified because I ran into France before crossing.

Ok so have done a fresh install now and have 3.4.4 p1 and I cant figure out how to get the wind barbs to display with gribs, Help??

Hello Beccara,

You have to specify what you want to display with the grib-display dialog. This is accessible through the small windsock icon on the toolbar.
