It seems this product is actually a 7-day trial of some description (for the $20 paid version), even though it doesn't say this anywhere.

I downloaded it, and the truck load of compressed 'maps', decided it wasn't for me, then uninstalled it.

It left 285MB of data sitting on my phone which I had to delete manually.


If nothing else, you at least should tell people, in the app description, that this is a 7-day trial (or whatever it is).

Well

As a grib viewer and much more, it's a free app. There is a subscription for getting route and weather-routing modules active on Android (and soon IOS), that's true.

PCs versions (windows/mac/linux) remain and will remain completely free, so no change in fact except if you want it on mobile.

That was a big effort, and costly too.

Concerning the desinstallation process, we are working on that, sorry for the burden.

qtVlm 5.0.12 has been released for Android, Mac/OS, Windows and Linux.

Installation for Linux is now made through an installation package.

Many changes, including a better and faster routing module, anchor alarm, etc.

qyVlm seems to dis-like the 0.1 degree GRIB files from
HIGHRES GRIB
Is there any hope for support in the future versions?

Just tried randomly a few of them, seems ok to me... display and routing ok as far as I can see.

Can you be more specific about the particular grib giving troubles?

I have been using Hirlam-Europe GRIB file.
After update to Windows version 5.0.12 on Wine I am now able to create a route to a waypoint and I get a correct track. My previous version was 3.someting and that didn't make any track with Hirlam-Europe GRIB, but succeeded immediately with ZyGrib GRIB.
This version is crashing when creating a routing from boat to WP with both GRIB files.

You mean version 3.4.4 is crashing or version 5 is crashing?

Version 3.4.4 was not creating a route with Hirlam-Europe.
Version 5.0-12 is crashing, when creating a routing from boat to WP or from WP to WP with both ZyGrib and Hirlam-Europe GRIB.

I just checked with 5.0.12 and couldn't notice anything bad, and no crash. I tried with Hirlam Europe Grib...

Which polar are you using?

A native 32-bit Linux qtVlm 5.0-12 was working OK also with routing.
The problem is probably in Wine.

For the record the problem has been fixed. It was coming from running qtvlm through wine instead of natively linux.

Next small release is for the coming days, and will include a 64bits-linux package too.
