New Sailor To Forum - New Bern, NC !

Good afternoon. I am new to the forum, in search of a Captain with the desire to teach a new sailor. My interest was peaked by an ex, he taught me the basics and my desire to learn more and eventually live aboard has grown. I am a US Marine living in the New Bern, NC area. Open to suggestions, advice and making new friends in the Sailing community.
Blessings,
Tammy

Welcome Aboard CF!

You are in a good location for sailing or meeting cruisers. Good luck on finding some new sailing friends there.

Hi LittleT.. Welcome to CF..
Take a drive down to Oriental and meet some of the folks down there.. lots of local sailors with a few things happening.. apart from fun social things like Hog Roasts and other stuff.
Places to hang out.. The Bean, M&M's for starters

Welcome to CF T !

There's a few New Bern CF'rs, but I haven't seen them here for a bit... Love the town, knew the old marina owners ages ago... It would help catch people's eye if New Bern was in your title, I can edit (add) it for you if you want...

1- Look for a local sailing club, you'll likely be in high demand...
1a- Local yacht club - cheap social membership is the norm
2- Search the members here by location, and look for somewhat active posters and PM!

You're W-W-W!

Do you think the exclamation point is too much??? I backed off on the clowns with balloons and jazz hands...

If in doubt, feel free to ask any of the mods, or anybody else around here... Lots of regular posters and most of 'em clean up and look sound respectable...

Good idea concerning clowns, not a fan by any means...I'll hold a snake before I hold a clown.

Re: New Sailor To Forum - New Bern, NC !

Join a local sailing club. New Bern has one, the Blackbeard sailing club, Oriental's is Neuse Sailing Association, and there is one in Washington, the Pamlico Sailing Club. Or as someone mentioned previously join a local yacht club. There usually is someone willing to carry a passenger out for a day sail.

Hi tammy~~Damn too bad We didn't have more time. A young lady friend of mine is leaving the Charleston area tomorrow to here...Marathon...to load up for a month in the Bahamas. We're taking some supplies over to the commission ministries in Nassau. our window is on the 21st. Welp, maybe next time. Are you still active duty? Are you just wanting some daysailin' experience?

Good luck on your mission and welcome to this forum. Life on the sea, has no equal;-)

PEACE LUV & HAPPINESS
