Are Charts Available For Western Caribbean?

We're planning a voyage from the Florida Keys to Cuba, westward along Cuba's north coast to Mexico, and then south to Belize and Guatemala, intending to spend the hurricane season in the Rio Dulce. We have Navionics charts for our plotters, but I can't find anything to use with OpenCPN that covers south of Cozumel. Does anyone know of any available charts for Belize, the Rio Dulce and the Bay Islands? I've searched the discussion board and can't find any recommendations.

Yes, but I think you will want to get S-63, BSB4, or NV charts paid.
There are charts available of part of the the area through NOAA and Columbia, but not Cuba. (I found some old Cuba RNC charts on the internet, but would want better ones to cruise.) Don't know about free Western Carribean charts, don't recall seeing any. Use the Chart Downloader Plugin to help obtain those free charts mentioned above.

I just checked Chart Downloader, and just recalled that the Columbia charts are not available anymore as they are now paid for. Chart Downloader has Brazil and Argentina in South America. NOAA has Gulf of Mexico down to Mexico, and Puerto Rico, but not Cuba.

So it looks to me like you'll need to pay for o-chart s-63

My wife and I are in the final stages of preparing for departure. We're provisioning, laying in spares, trying to sell our vehicles, taking care of vaccinations, wills, powers of attorney, forwarding addresses, etc. etc. etc. There's still equipment that needs installation, and some that has been recently installed that requires troubleshooting. In short, there are only so many hours in the day, and the time set aside for surfing around online searching for something that I can't even determine actually exists has pretty much been exhausted. So I'm so very sorry if having someone ask for help wears on you when you've had to help other people before with the same issue. But I was under the impression that this was what forums like this were about - sharing knowledge. So it's simply an efficient use of my time as we prepare to depart to ask for some assistance when I couldn't find any relevant responses to a search such as "OpenCPN charts for Western Caribbean" on either these boards or Google.

Thank you. I will explore this option. I tried the various charts available through Chart Downloader, but couldn't find the coverage we need. I had hoped the NV charts would be the solution, but couldn't find any that would cover coastal Belize and approaches to the Rio Dulce. And I never said I was looking for free charts. That would be nice, of course, but we're more than willing to purchase them if necessary. I just want something that will work with OpenCPN, as I don't believe (from what I've been able to determine) that I can get our Navionics+ 3XG package to work.

Perhaps someone else will chime in.
Not ideal, but would CM93 Charts + Paper Charts for harbors work?

If you dig further there should be people with local knowledge.

On the other hand one source are official S-63 charts. Not that many for the region, but some yes.
