Re: Opinions on Hunter Passage 42

https://https://www.cruisersforum.com/gallery/showimage.php?i=10583&cI love my Hunter. No, it doesn't squeek and I've been in ten foot seas without problems, it handled nicely, though my admiral had...

Re: self defense - are you trained

No, I've never been the subject of a robbery; as a retired police officer under LEOSA as long as I qualify annually, I can carry anywhere in the US and its territories ... and I do. That doesn't...

Re: self defense - are you trained

As a retired military officer and retired police officer I would say, yes, I'm trained ... including Special Forces, Ranger, SWAT, and EOD (Bomb Disposal). Age, while important, is not...

Re: Florida Mooring and Anchoring Pilot Program Survey

I answered the survey and agree with others that it was poorly worded.

Having said that, remember that regardless of the questions involved there are opportunities to make a point much as the...

Re: Dinghy on ICW

For the most part, unless you're going thru one of the sounds in the Carolinas, I would consider the ICW 'sheltered' water and thus one of the places that according to the previous poster would be a...

Re: Legal Stuff

You miss the forest for the trees.

The primary purpose/mission of the Coast Guard is (drum roll) to GUARD THE COAST. All other missions, while important, are secondary. Hence the laws were...

Re: Legal Stuff

Got to agree with ElGatoGordo....

As for the legalities ... prior to the establishment of the Department of Homeland Security, the US Coast Guard was a part of the Department of the Interior,...

Re: Is there a caste system in sailing?

If you have to ask if there is a caste system ... you just don't get it! Sailors, merely by embracing the lifestyle, have set themselves apart. An obsession concerning social place ignores what is...

Re: Completely Overwhelmed

I've read most of your responses and a lot of the advice given here ... I don't think you're ready to pull the plug ... too many issues and a lack of decision-making. I must admit that, as a retired...

Re: Any Other SCUBA Divers on the Forum?

I started diving in 1966 after taking a course at Michigan State University, but it wasn't 'til I returned from overseas as a Special Forces officer that I became a PADI SCUBA instructor, OWSI #4039....

Re: Sailing the Ditch in February

Jeff,

I brought my boat down from Maryland in November 2010, to a marina in North Carolina (Cherry Point -- it's military, so you probably can't use it). We left North Carolina on Dec 28 for...

Re: From Annapolis to Jacksonville

I did it last year right after Thanksgiving on a Hunter 42CC, going down the Chesapeake and then the ICW. Stayed in marinas every night because of the cold. Wouldn't wait too long after...

CNG Availibility

I've read recently that one of the major car manufacturers, I think it was Honda, is planning to market a huge increase in vehicles powered by CNG. I'm wondering if this is going to start a...

Re: Garmen touch screen 7012

There was a thread on here not too long ago that said that water droplets sometimes interfered with the ability to use the touch screen capability properly ... that's why I bought a Garmin 4210 .... ...

Re: What does everyone DO?

I must be doing something wrong ... I have a house, a forty-two foot sailboat, 2 cars and I don't work ... ah-ha! Don't use OPM like I do. But in doing that, I balanced it with two substantial...

Re: Would You Travel the Intracoastal Waterway in January ?

Osirissail pretty much says it all. If you're going to find a long term slip at a marina in water that's not gonna freeze every night, I suggest you look at places from Charleston SC south to the...

Re: Sailboat Runs Over Divers

I can only speak for the training I went through; I'm sure it has changed a lot from when I went (For example, we didn't have BCs then, just UDT vests; while we trained on mixed gas (CCR1000) and...

Re: Sailboat Runs Over Divers
