Any Other SCUBA Divers on the Forum?

It has been awhile since the last time I had a dive in Monterey Bay, but looking at my certificate, my instructor's number is IT-13. I learned back in '87 and this guy was an old salt back then. Always grizzled, needed to grease up his cheeks so his mask would seal over his stubble. My question to other certified divers, what was your instructor's number. I seem to remember some of his old yarns about diving with the father of SCUBA, Jacque Cousteau.

I love scuba diving ... have a dive compressor and tanks on board and one of my all time favorites was a recent dive off Pigeon Island (Guadeloupe) in the Jacque Cousteau Nature Reserve ... down at about 30 meters was terrific!!! Ana is not too keen a diver so unfortunately I am always looking for a dive buddy

Been certified since 90 think i do more free diving now than scuba, admiral is a master diver etcetc. Takes less gear to free dive though i stay above the 50 ft mark. Did buy a spare air which i reccomend to everyone great for unsnagging anchors an such gives you about 20 breaths. Pools open!

Retired commercial diver. Does that count? I think I was certified as a sport diver in '64. Our certification cards were made of cardboard. No holograms, bar codes, pictures or nuthin'

Certified in 78 - in Puget Sound in wet suits. Went back five years later and a friend was teaching an Open Water class - all in dry suits.

My PADI card does not have a number. Certified in 1973 but started diving in 1971. Traded a pair of Hart Javelin skis for a tank and regulator.

I used to have Hart Javelins also, later the Hart Freestyle.

Re: Any Other SCUBA Divers on the Forum?

I received my first certification card in 1965 and lost it a few years later. Back in the 80s I got another one in Barbados. Three years ago I got an Advanced Open Water Diver card (PADI) in Capetown, South Africa. I did the diving portion, however, on Medjumbe Island, off the coast of Mozambique.

Most of the diving I do nowadays is some weird kind of adventure diving. Last year, I went to Guanaja, an island off the coast of Honduras, to dive through the volcanic tunnels, caves and canyons.
