Re: Broker or go it alone?
I do Pre-Purchase/Sale Consulting but only for Amel sailboats. I do this about 50 times a year. As far as I know, nobody else performs this service. If you do not want an Amel, there is plenty of... |

Re: Who Buys Those World Cruisers at the End of the World?
In my experience, it is health reasons. I have a method of performing a Pre-purchase Review including an estimate of refit for Amels worldwide and sometimes do this for brokers in places like... |

Re: Alternator showing 28-29 volts open circuit

Re: Halyard tension at anchor
All halyards run over a sheave at the mast top. There is a tremendous amount of pressure on the halyard where it meets the sheave. You might want to consider 2 things: 1.) Inspect this point on... |

Re: Amel 50 - Build Thread
All in this thread, I believe in the Amel brand and the company. I admire the technology and most things Amel that make Amel Better & Different from all others. I am a big supporter of the Amel 50... |

Graham, Go here Marriner High Speed Gensets | HFL (https://hflmarine.com/products-page/generators/marriner/) Look at the features. You will see "constant speed governing." This is what is not... |

Re: Generator producing excess AC voltage
Graham, There has to be. How else would the generator get additional fuel as the load increases. Look further. I have not worked on one of these, but every other generator I have been up close... |

Re: Generator producing excess AC voltage
Most generators have an actuator which controls RPM. It adds throttle as load is added to maintain a constant RPM so that you have constant voltage. My first guess is that the actuator is either... |

Re: Amel vs HR
The only condensation we get inside our Amel in cold weather is on the frames of the hatches. There has been no condensation on the bulkheads or on the interior surface of the hull. There are no... |

Re: Coffee maker...
Not a worry on our boat. My total cholesterol is 118 and ratios are perfect. Husband's count is also well below 150. Coffee is not going to have any negative effects on that. I like not having to... |

I bought an Aeropress last month based on recommendation by someone earlier in this thread. It does make good coffee. Like old fashioned drip coffee made with BOILING water. None of the electric... |

Re: Marinas in Turkey
Beware of Kas Marina if you are planning to leave the boat in the water. It is a great place when weather is nice. And a great place to leave a boat on the hard. But when westerly or NW winds kick... |

Re: transatlantic insurance
I do not think IMIS can insure a boat with a home port in Spain. The OP needs a European insurance company. Pantaenius anywhere in Europe is a good place to start shopping. We use a French... |

Re: Egyptian navy vessel attacked by terrorist
The USA is not safe. I think even Americans realize that. It is no more safe than England or Germany or Australia or Fiji or Philippines. My town of Houston, TX, had 217 murders; 665 rapes; 9,385... |
