Re: How Old Are We?
I'm on the younger side of the 61-70 group. That said, I am really encouraged by the numbers in the 71-80 yr group. I will hopefully meet my goal to cruise in a few years time, and it's nice to... |

Re: Four crew rescued from disabled sailboat off coast of Nova Scotia
Interesting Boatman- My friends and I were considering a Hanse as a possible boat, I hadn't heard of rudder failures. So, I wonder again whether there is any sort of official reports after... |

Re: Four crew rescued from disabled sailboat off coast of Nova Scotia
Is there an official report that is made public after these incidents? On the Global page a person leaving comments says her husband was on HMCS Glace Bay and that it was crazy out there. I can... |

Four crew rescued from disabled sailboat off coast of Nova Scotia
Not sure what they were doing out there in December. Looks like the boat has a torn jib, but otherwise no apparent damage. No power maybe? ... |

Re: How to sell our "Stuff"!
We are embarking on this process. Unfortunately we haven't moved in over 20 years and we have accumulated way too much junk. Some of this stuff are relatively valuable antiques and collectables that... |

Re: Impact of CETA on boats and parts
See this discussion, post #30. Not an expert but it looks like EU sailboats are now duty free. More Canadian Questions - Page 2 - Cruisers & Sailing Forums... |

Re: More Canadian Questions
Idid some searching and came up with a tariff schedule. Sailboats are under 8903.91. The following table is messed up, but the old MFN tariff (Most Favoured Nation) was 9.5%. The last column... |

Re: More Canadian Questions
Does the new CETA agreement b/n Canada and the EU change the duty payable for a European built boat? I did a google search and checked the CRA site but couldn't find any specific information. I... |

Re: Why people may not help you!
I'd have to disagree with Boaty on this one. Bikers still have a great sense of community, pretty much like most boaters. I ride a fancy adventure bike but still wave to other riders and they... |

Re: Robbed in Nassau
I think you would find Mark's screen a little more than cheap aluminum. They take their security screens pretty seriously in Australia! Usually steel with a mesh that is very hard to break through. |

Re: Ever give up Booze?
hmmm and I thought when I got a boat I'd reduce my consumption of wine and beer because I couldn't just pop down to Costco and get some cheap or reasonably priced nice red. Although it could never... |

Re: Haiti attack on Cruisers.
This is my experience as well. Chinese post-docs and Ph.D. students (science) have more opportunity and better funding than in the US or Canada. And because they don't have to worry about getting... |

Re: Aeropress -- Impressions and some Queries
Yikes! As per SWL's post above, don't use completely boiling water and don't seal the apparatus right away. Most of the aeropress championship winners use slightly cooled water. I fill my mug with... |

Re: Seller broker asking for comission
Is he asking for the commission as a non-refundable deposit before he takes the offer to the owners? Or an agreement that you will eventually pay the commission on an accepted offer? |

Re: Seller broker asking for comission
I've been perusing Yachtworld and have seen this exact same thing on a number of boats. It grates, but I assume they probably won't negotiate that part, however simply lower your offer to... |
