Well, I say NO. Of course the land is still there. But if nothing is left on top of the land is it gone? Did you think - Wow, Road Harbour is GONE after Irma?

Re: Dorian attacks GALAWA II in Freeport, Bahamas

I have a lump in my chest... I was just watching Dorian TV coverage of the Bahamas and they showed an aerial of your marina. It was too short on the screen to view much but it did not look good for anyone I'm afraid. Also saw an aerial of Old Bahama Bay. Nothing left standing. It had just been re-sold and was to be remodeled.

14,000 homes destroyed in Marsh Harbour. I think that is about all of them. I heard they are going to refuge the residents to Eleuthera. This is beyond sad.

Dorian attacks GALAWA II in Freeport, Bahamas

I wouldn’t be too surprised if one or more of the keys may have been cut in half. I’ve seen that kind of thing in Fl.
But gone is unlikely, news media is known for exaggeration. Just because it’s reported, doesn’t mean it’s true.

So sorry to hear that you are back from the Med and in the Bahamas.
I thought how smart you were for getting out of St Martin before Erma.
For what it is worth, Callisto got REALLY beat up in Erma but we put her back together again and she is almost as good as new.
Best of luck.

That happened to some of the barrier islands up here in the north east after hurricane Sandy, that was a Cat 1 hurricane. I think you are likely to be right.

I thought about you and Zanshin this weekend as it was all going down. We're not the first that's gone through this that's for sure. Callisto is one massively tough boat which is probably the only reason it survived at all. Beautiful boat and I'm sure you had the same heart ache then that I'm having now. Provided that Palarran isn't totally destroyed I'd appreciate if you could give me some pointers on how it all works with the insurance and getting the boats repaired, especially if they have to be transported. Hopefully I'll get word tomorrow. Thanks.

Was it National news? Any idea of the channel or network. I've seen some aerial of Abaco which in the end will probably be worse off but with less population. I'll try to search for it. Thanks.

Here is an update from the CEO of Bradford Marinas in Florida, and is based upon what communication they have been able to get from their Bahamas employees:

Here is a national news story that has an aerial photo of a marina in the Bahamas but they don't state which one it is. The photo is the fourth photo down.

I wish you the best of luck with everything.

It was on BayNews 9 in the Tampa Bay market. I'm at work and have not seen it again. I have no idea where they were getting their feed.

Sorry for the multiple posts, but I just found this referring to Bradford.

Satellite image of flood in Freetown gives us a faint hope that our catamarans on high ground in Bradford marina may have been spared by the surge

Re: Dorian attacks GALAWA II in Freeport, Bahamas

Galawa,
I called the Fort Lauderdale office this morning. They said that they believe the yard didn't get devastated so there is a chance. I also feel we may have been fortunate with the location and elevation. In some of the videos of the Lucaya area it appears the water was only about 10' above sea level. Also we were just at the edge of the center going by the NHC graphics so maybe we only experienced 100 mph winds or less. They are going to call me back today to update me so when I get some info I'll send it to you.
