Wanted to say hello as we join this new community of cruisers and live aboards. We are of the later. We are a family
of five who have chosen to leave the daily grind and never ending trudge up the ladder of pseudo success behind. My husband and I have always loved the sea and had planned on retiring aboard, but watching our kids
become more and more segregated from each other and seeing ourselves spend 90% of our time at work, we decided that now was the time before we all became another statistic. We sold it all and gave away the rest and purchased our first sailboat, a 55 foot cutter
. Sailed it North from Seattle
to the southern tip of Vancouver Island and have been living aboard
and refitting (Yeah big bite out of it especially with 3 kids) since August 2010. Of all the desicions we have made in our 19 year marriage, this has been by far the best. Even with the sometimes frustration of refitting while living aboard
. We havent been able to set out yet but experiencing "the life" even while moored has been completely rewarding. My hubby and I work half as much as we did before, we are more active and close as a family
unit, and our stress levels have fallen to a minimum!! I know that even better times lay ahead when our "big ol girl" is complete and ready to see the world. For all those people who's experiences of life aboard inspired us to break free....We thank you!!
