As long as you keep the center of gravity in the boat very low, I don't think you'll have any serious safety problems.

Another poster brought up the tracking issue, and I believe that may be the biggest impact. The boat doesn't have any real hard chines, and general turning and side drift might be a big issue, especially with wind.

Good luck if you go - it would be a great trip. If I had the time, I'd go myself in a second.

Thanks hardhead have another keel and mast and trailer in Port Charlotte FL and will bring her back to sailing status there.
