Re: Boats Less Than $30K Recent Noteworthy Finds

I will keep checking here; in the hunt for cruiser 28-31 ft, diesel, max draft 5 ft
Preferably on the Gulf Coast, want something that is ready to go and budget a bit over 30K. Schooner.
Have been checking various sites. Will keep researching.
Prior owner of 1985 Benateau 350 Oceanis, want something smaller.
thanks
Donna

Welcome Donna! The only schooners in the 30' range I have seen are Sharpies and others from The Chesapeake Bay area. Good luck in your adventures!

For some reason, I just love the lines on these vessels. The only model that I can find that they built was the 40 and that's a little smaller than I want. If I could find one around 45' and at the right price like this one, I'd snap it up.

Just seen the link and side pics for this now... that is a stunning boat for under $20k!! Looks like a decent size rig on it as well...

However I wonder if something isn’t quite right with the listing. This other link is using some of the same pics, same boat name, but 48ft and a Westerbeke...

Re: Boats Less Than $30K Recent Noteworthy Finds

I previously posted that I was looking for a 27-32 schooner but it was a brain fog so I apologize for any confusion. I want a sloop. Have been checking out older Catalinas and Hunters and even a Precision 28.
Hopefully find something on the gulf coast.

One listing is from 2018. The other is recent. perhaps two different owners and the engine needed to be replaced.

What is your intended use?...Coastal Cruising, Around the Buoys or Offshore some day? I'm assuming you are in Tx or Fl.

Re: Boats Less Than $30K Recent Noteworthy Finds

I just purchased a 1986 Voyager 26 MK2 (cutter rig). I bought the boat, with trailer and all accessories, for $7,000.00 US. The only catch was hauling it from Florida to my home in Los Angeles.

The boat had been virtually abandoned for several years in Florida, at it's mooring in the ocean. A noble hearted gentleman in Florida rescued it and brought it ashore. He put it into a trailer that he found and began the refit process by removing all inside cabinetry. He then sold it to me.

I have taken over the refit, along with ownership. I'll be replacing some older items with more modern materials but intend to keep the boat virtually unchanged from original.

It's an amazingly solid boat. I would have no hesitation sailing her today, even in the Pacific winter seas.

She will be launched this summer, rechristening as "Fighting Guppy" with this goal of dry sailing from this trailer (after modification with rollers).

Relaminating the porthole glass was abitch.

Here are some pics.

I love it when someone brings one of these good old boats back! What an adventure!
Good luck with your refit!

Some really good old boats available in your area. I'm fond of the Endeavour 32, nice solid boat. Although we don't have interior pictures, that's a good price.
