CaptWho. The one who told that was certainly French! They absolutely dislike that someone can do things better!! A 63 ft had a hull bottom 2 1/2 inch thick! Most of them has two MB based engines and really luxurious interiors.
The 63 was out of my reach, the 42 and 422 ( a twin 115hp engine had insufficient head room for me.

Almost sounds like an estate sale.
12 gallon day tank, but sailboat data says 60

The engine Hp has gone down a lot from original (72-56) but should be adequate. The wacky engine placement would concern me, but it maybe because I’m just not sufficiently used to such placements. The drive shaft is under the engine and the engine sits facing aft. May be 100% fine but looks odd to me.

It’s a skinny boat with a relatively short rig. We are 44’ with 62’ mast height as opposed to 54’. But is also much lighter than ours.

I’m always amazed at the difference in interior space. She is much smaller than a normal 44 both her size of the narrow beam and low displacement. Not a bad thing, depends upon what you want.

Yeah, it's the old school way, lots of length for not much interior space, compared to "normal" boats. But then it's more boat below the waterline and less freeboard to be smacked or blown around. Bill Tripp penned some nice boats for sea-kindliness and performance back in the day.

He did but it was designed by another master - William Lapworth.

Islander sold hulls and decks for home completion. She could be home finished.

Looks well finished though and upgraded - titanium chainplates for example.

There's a ketch version of the Islander 44. I wonder if they used the same height mainmast as the sloop? That would be odd.

I'm 5-11 and I can stand up in mine. It has 6' as long as they didn't add a teak and holly sole on top of the one that is there! In mine you'd probably be ok in the salon berths and v-berth but I am not sure in that model. It is the dinette model and the berths would need to be measured. I THINK in that model they are reduced in all dimensions.
