Re: FREE, or close to free!

29' Cascade. Owners name is Mike. It's in redding, ca. Interior is complete, but looks like it was an unfinished kit boat, and the previous owner (current owners father) "finished" it on the cheap. Combined with water damage, interior will need redone. Water damage due to a break in. Unknown if everything is there, mast and standing rigging is. Rather than pump out the hull, someone drilled a hole (at least one) through it so it would drain. Trailer is homemade and looks decent. Needs wheels/tires/lights/wheel bearings packed, on old trailer house axles (unknown if it has brakes). I talked to the guy for an hour, friendly fellow, but decided it wasn't worth it for me, but to someone else...

1964 Herreshoff Rozinante by Kenner, $1,500

She is a beautiful 28 footer, displacement at 6550 lbs, beam at 6.33' so very trailer-able even with a gas truck. She clearly needs work but nothing a modestly motivated individual or couple couldn't accomplish. She would certainly be one of the most beautiful boats anywhere on the water.

More than modest motivation needed there.

Either mad skills or very deep pockets too.

But wow lovely design and what history!

Re: FREE, or close to free!

She is a beauty, moving and terrifying at the same time!
Herreshoff knew what he was doing!
That glass hull nice but the rest...you know the wood bits are toast. So much black rot under everything shown.
Would run for the hills if I saw her in person.

Perhaps, I just feel like the fiberglass work and refinishing wood aren't really complicated. But certainly would take some time.

Yeah you guys might be right, refinishing wood and rebuilding are two different beasts. Sure is a beautiful boat though, too bad she is so neglected

Re: FREE, or close to free!

S&S 24 “Rainbow “, $800, looks no dirtier than standard for the thread. New to the list. Honestly you could about break even on the 4 stroke outboard.

You could do worse.

I like the longer, shallow keel, sailmaster motor, 6’2 headroom... this looks like a great weekender or trailerable coastal cruiser.

Re: FREE, or close to free!

In Hull, MA. Comes with stands. Looks rough but those little Pearsons can take a beating or two. But then again - what do you want for nothing?
