Re: Any Unique Solo Circumnavigation Records Left?

How about RTW sailing backwards. Not against the trades but stern first.

Pick a traditional route but you have to take the countries/ports in alphabetical order.

Re: Any Unique Solo Circumnavigation Records Left?

Hoppy your handle is so ironic considering your idea of a sex change while sailing around the world.
John Sanders has done 10 circumnavigations and one non stop triple circumnavigation. Aussie Aussie Aussie

One little known Australian sailor that deserves more recognition is Raud O'Brien. He sailed an engineless steel 33' yacht around the world starting from Sydney with only one stop in the Falklands. No GPS or anything fancy onboard. His book "Little Wing" is an excellent read and shows what can be done with very little.
Cheers

How about sculling around the world. Plenty of people have done the rowing thing so why not take it one step further?

I don’t think anybody has solo’d a TranAt 6.5m around non-stop.

Re: Any Unique Solo Circumnavigation Records Left?

I assume nobody has sailed nonstop around the world in an autonomously (computer sailed) sailing sailboat? Or whatever vessel with "renewable" propulsion for that matter.

I think this would be quite cool.

EDIT: Here's a link to the Microtransat challenge. The challenge above would be autonomous + at least one human aboard. https://www.microtransat.org/history.php

Adelie an Italian did a 268 day non stop circumnavigation in 2010 in a mini transat 6.5.

Re: Any Unique Solo Circumnavigation Records Left?

There was a French guy sailing as first person around with a chicken as crew.

You could be the first with a dead Parrot as crew.

:-)

Always look at the bright side of life!

Re: Any Unique Solo Circumnavigation Records Left?

The figure 8 hasn't been done, England north over Asia, south from the Bering Sea to Cape Horn, north through the NW Passage, then south from the Bering Sea to Cape of Good Hope and home to England.........you would see lots of hungry polar bears.......
