Re: Any Unique Solo Circumnavigation Records Left?

How about a circumnavigation of all the continents? I doubt anyone has done that.

Or a circumnavigation of pole to pole. Will need to take your micro underwear.

Re: Any Unique Solo Circumnavigation Records Left?

Be the first to do a circ by the four capes in a Macgreggor 26!

That would prove a few things and might answer more than a few questions that are commonly posed on sailing forums.

Or....

Be the first to Singlehand a full rigged ship on the same route.

There are still plenty of records and firsts to be done.

Or be the first to Singlehand a full rigged ship by the five southern capes!

Now that has some merit

Re: Any Unique Solo Circumnavigation Records Left?

Why not 'the longest circumnavigation'.

Who holds this one of now???

Re: Any Unique Solo Circumnavigation Records Left?

Lots more to do:

Solo circumnavigation by person under 2 years old.
Solo circumnavigation in a left shoe.
Double handed circumnavigation in a left shoe.

Re: Any Unique Solo Circumnavigation Records Left?

Many posters here are being funny, and rightly so. But I do think that there is a couple of otherwise serious records that can be aimed at.

E.g.:

- max number of solo rtw sailed,
- max number of solo non-stop rtw loops,
- consecutive E-W-E solo rtw. (or has this been done?)

Etc.

The only limit is your imagination. Exactly as it was in Slocum's times.

Re: Any Unique Solo Circumnavigation Records Left?

The max number of RTW solo is held by a Japanese guy, and I think its 7.

I don't think he likes his wife.

Re: Any Unique Solo Circumnavigation Records Left?

There is always the smallest boat to circumnavigate (stands at 12') or the smallest open boat (19' ) you could always try to do smallest nonstop circumnavigation (no idea).

Re: Any Unique Solo Circumnavigation Records Left?

Talking high latitudes - has anybody done a circum navigation of the NorthPole and Antartica non-stop? Like a rubber band hooked over each pole...

Slowest nonstop unsupported solo circumnavigation. Reid Stowe took 1152 days. It's there for the taking.
Looked that up. Has some merit in terms of a Mars Analog. He didn't do the whole thing solo, as he knocked his girlfriend up and they decided to pull her of f the ship 1/4 way through.

If I were to approach that theme I wouldn't choose a sailboat. Rather submarine or spaceship-like environment and go with a crew of 6. Duration could be 6 months in the vessel then 1.5 years in a 'Mars' habitat environment. Then 6 months in the vessel. That would be a very strong analog to the real thing.

Re: Any Unique Solo Circumnavigation Records Left?

I'm sure there hasn't been a solo circumnavigation by someone starting as a male and finishing as a female. This might be a challenge for a non-stop journey

Re: Any Unique Solo Circumnavigation Records Left?

You could still do the "circumnavigation by the oldest person" record if you live long enough.
