Seems like a lot of experience to have in order to have to ask a forum for a boat for YOU.

Re: 40 foot offshore yacht with shower cubicle

Slightly over 40' but the Pearson 422 and at least some layouts of the Pearson 424 had one head with a separate shower.

Modified fin keel. No rocket ship but a reasonable performer.

With a 40 ft shower stall you can sail anywhere. A nice cutter rigged shower stall that can sleep 6 should be available for 200K USD.

Re: 40 foot offshore yacht with shower cubicle

Passport 40
Caliber 40

We've had our Caliber 40 19 years

BIG forward shower stall - makes great offshore storage area!

I've actually taken a shower in the separate shower store while at sea and greatly enjoyed it. The door keeps the water from spraying around.

Six berths is a stretch but:
- big queen berth in owners cabin
- port settee makes up into queen bed
- starboard settee sleeps 1
- quarterberth sleeps two if they are really GOOD friends

Very safe boat and quite seaworthy - we've done a few miles in ours and have always enjoyed our seatime. The cutter rig makes it very easy to put up the correct sail plan.

A Caliber 40 sails pretty well offshore - one of the intro pictures on my web page (http://www.svmirador.net/MiradorInDetail.htm) shows us 25 - 40 miles west of the Baja California coast making 6.9 knots in 14 knots apparent from 150 apparent. My wife is half-asleep in the cockpit, the autopilot has been driving for hours, and I am strolling around the boat taking pictures.

For an offshore cruiser I would be more inclined to ask about:

anchoring systems
storage space
load carrying capability
usability of galley at sea
comfort of cockpit while under way

You keep see thousands of Caliber 40 pictures and read hundreds of thousands of words about cruising a Caliber 40 at my website

Re: 40 foot offshore yacht with shower cubicle

Some of the Jeanneau range havea compartmentalised shower. ( have a look at the various Deck Saloon range) Good sea boat, well able for your intended cruising areas

Look here. Only 39 of the 422 version were produced. I think more like 300 of the 424.

Exact same hull and rigs (sloop, cutter and ketch versions) but the 422 is a center cockpit with queen double aft cabin, the 424 aft cockpit with a double aft cabin. Both have a double in the forepeak and can sleep 2-3 more in the main cabin.

422s in good condition sell for $90-$110k, 424s can be a bit less.
