Yes, you do it with vmAIS via USB.

Thanks for quick reply. I realise there's a real need to change ssid/pwd as increasing more and friends around got the XB8000 for their boats (thanks to me ). I was upgrading my XB8000 firmware and noted i was actually logging on to my neighbour's unit instead of mine

Yeah, we realized that too as we often have a dozen or so XB's on our office network So, the latest XB-8000's and Vision's come from us with a unique SSID including the serial number.

After a bit of research, it seems it can be done, but not with high accuracy.

Would be a nice feature to have a built in NTP server in the XB8000 if that is possible ?

I'm planning to fit a buzzer to the XB8000. I'll connect the Blue wire to buzzer + and - to ground. I suppose 12V is supplied from within the XB8000 when there's alarm.

Yes, I put the buzzer we use as a stall warning horn on mine, and it works well, just connect the wires, nothing to it.

If i were to wire the Brown wire to a switch to ground, that would put AIS to silence mode as per mentioned in the manual. Would momentary throwing the switch silence the Anchor Alarm as well?

Yes, you can configure the switch function in vmAIS to either activate silent mode or silence the alarm (both MOB and Anchor Alarms)

Today I feed GPS data to my Raymarine VHF radio from my internal GPS in my chartplotter via a Seatalk to NMEA0183 converter.

My XB8000 sits right next to the VHF radio and it would be great if I could feed XB8000 position info straight into the VHF radio without running the Setalk->NMEA0183 box.

The XB8000 feeds data to my chartplotter at 38400bps

Any change that I can feed that VHF radio with GPS data from the XB8000?

Yes, you can but there's a catch... since you are already using the XB-8000's NMEA 0183 output at 38400 baud then your VHF radio will also need to accept the GPS data at 38400 baud. If your radio can do that then it's simply a matter of connecting the chartplotter and VHF in parallel to the XB-8000 NMEA 0183 output.

However, if your VHF can only accept 4800 baud then you'll need to use the NMEA 2000 feed from the XB-8000 for your chartplotter and then you can use the NMEA 0183 output at 4800 for the VHF. If you can't do that then you'll need a NMEA multiplexer than can split the single 38400 baud signal into a 38400 baud output for the plotter and 4800 baud GPS feed for the VHF.

Exactly what I have in mind, but I have earlier tried to run the XB8000 on the SeatalkNG / NMEA2000 backbone, but I get "data error" or "system error" on my Raymarine C120W on irregular intervals. That is why I returned to use the NMEA 0183 port

Do you have any other previous reports on incompatibility with the C120W?

However might be worth trying again with the latest firmware version that you released in August

Yes, use our latest firmware but I think the problem is likely in the C120W. Double check you've also got the latest Raymarine firmware: Latest Software for C-Series Widescreen MFDs (C90W, C120W, C140W) Version 2.20 | Raymarine FAQ
