Re: New Lagoons now using B&G

They are part of Group Beneteau which also switched. B&G will be my next electronics upgrade (I am also ditching Raymarine).

Great equipment!

Re: New Lagoons now using B&G

I would think that generally, these types of manufacturers go with companies who provide them the best prices for standard packages. Maybe Navico decided to make a large push into this market and outbid Raymarine.

In this case, I can't see this as being nothing but good to run away from Raymarine regardless of pricing. Just look at all the integration nonsense that is going on in other threads regarding RM's stupid Seatalk cabling alone.

B&G is good stuff now. They had problems earlier, but they (Navico) seem to be leading the game in a lot of areas now.

Re: New Lagoons now using B&G

My 92 lagoon had B&G. Not sure they had a "chosen" provider back then though.

Re: New Lagoons now using B&G

Raymarine has been the standard pack, with other packs optional, but lagoon have been a bit pissed off with raymarines service (me too ) hence the change
I am happy with the current gear but after sales service sucks and they don't seem to care if a system has bugs, they just forget it and tell you to buy the next plotter they release.

Re: New Lagoons now using B&G

I just did a complete electronics refit. I tore out all of the Raymarine gear (came with the boat) and replaced it with B&G gear. I couldn't be happier. The Raymarine SeaTalk stuff was proprietary and made it difficult to integrate newer equipment with a legacy network. The reason a lot of sailboat manufacturers are switching to B&G is because the plotters have sailing specific software. It's the same hardware as the Simrad equipment. The new stuff has much better software to deal with autopilot control, wind steering, etc.
