Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1125

Cagney , HappySeagull

Yes replacing " " by "%20" works fine
I tried doing it automatically in the code and all my links work again
Thanks

Just a minor problem pending :
all links are opened by the default navigator instead of by the default program (I mean for example images by XnView , text by notpad etc... ) with less performances (mainly for images )

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1125

Windows Vista 2.6.1125:

With "Use OpenGL" selected the CM93 and .kap chart is shifted down by some dozen pixels or so.

A strip of chart near the top of the screen is not drawn/refreshed.
To select waypoints or point to locations with cursor a similar offset must be applied.

Great speed-up on track handling!

pjotr, ptizef, SailorF54, et al...

Will those who are experiencing screen refresh problems on Windows/OpenGL please post the OpenGL status line reports from your log files?

For example, on one of my systems....
21:47:17 EST: OpenGL-> Renderer String: Mesa DRI Intel(R) 945G 20061017 x86/MMX/SSE2
21:47:17 EST: OpenGL-> Detected potential i945G renderer bug, disabling stencil buffer
21:47:17 EST: OpenGL-> Framebuffer Objects unavailable
21:47:17 EST: OpenGL-> Using Depth buffer clipping
21:47:17 EST: OpenGL-> Estimated Max Resident Textures: 24

I am looking for some common element as a hint to the root cause of this problem.
I cannot reproduce so far....

Thanks
Dave

Log contents:

Code:
11:21:33 AM: PlugInManager: Loading PlugIn: C:\Program Files\OpenCPN 2.6.1125\plugins/iacfleet_pi.dll
11:21:33 AM: OpenGL-> Renderer String: Intel 965/963 Graphics Media Accelerator

11:21:33 AM: ChartDB Cache policy: Application target is 1019 MBytes
The blank strip at top of screen effect is always there.

1. =Sometimes= program starts with no charts, just the world outline.
2. =Sometimes= after selecting OpenGL the chart freezes - restart needed.

regardless of OpenGL setting:

3. GRIB display does not show on screen - mouse shows correct values, but no barbs.

I have exactly the same problem with OpenCPN 2.6.1019, which worked OK at the time.
It has nothing to do with the upgrading to wxgtk 2.8.12 from apt.wxwidgets.org. Reverting to the 11.10 original 2.8.11, changed nothing.
Somehow it must be something changed on my computer after around 2011-10-29. All the changes to packages are available in the Synaptic history, but I can't find any obvious candidates.

Problem solved. It was an opengl driver problem.
I'm using the ATI driver installed from Ubuntus "Additional Drivers".
Reinstalling, solved the problem. My guess is that another package stepped on some critical files.
Now for some real testing

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1125

Dave
In some cases I found that OpenCPN in quilting + gl mode displays the wrong charts in a section of the view.
One example, a view of St Kitts not using gl. Quite a few charts all over the Caribbean are loaded

Now the same view with OpenGL turned on. All of a sudden we have a harbor plan from Bonaire, 450 M to the SW in the Mix.

I can repeat similar scenarios in other places with other charts.
Can I do anything to help you pinpoint this?

Thomas...

re/incorrect chart quilt patches...

Does this happen from initial load with OpenGL enabled, or only after panning about and viewing multiple charts/scales, and then switching to OpenGL?

SailorF54, ptizef, etc....

regarding OpenGL Wheel zoom display errors....
http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...tml#post825710

Common element seems to be Vista, which evidently uses its compositing system to utimately move OpenGL frames to the desktop. Lots of reports on the Web of OpenGL problems with Vista.

2 things to try:

1. Full screen mode (should disable compositing...)
2. Disable (temporarily) the compositor (wdm.exe)
What is dwm.exe And Why Is It Running? - How-To Geek

These two tests may help to isolate the problem further.

Anyone having similar problems with Win7?

Thanks
Dave

Vista in Full Screen mode =and= with dwm.exe stopped behaves OK for a moment, but especially switching BSB-CM93 makes soon a jigsaw on screen...

Full Screen only with dwm running has no effect.

The Windows Service associated with dwm.exe process (Desktop Windows Manager) seems to be UxSms.

Restarting computer with dmx.exe NOT running and UxSms stopped does not solve the problem even using fullscreen

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1125

Vista users....

OK, that idea was a bust.

Still thinking, expect a new Beta shortly with some experimental changes.

Anyone with this problem able to build from current git sources? I could propose some quick patches to try to narrow this down, and save a step....

Thanks
Dave
