But I am I've really tried to get the thing crash here, with no luck.
Can you tell me how to reproduce it ? Maybe you need to erase your
complete dashboard-cfg first.

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.4 Beta Build 324

Patrick,

again deleted all OCPN files in Library/Preferences/, result: crash.
Please see:
http://www.elmcan.info/Crash01.mov
http://www.elmcan.info/Crash02.mov
http://www.elmcan.info/Crash01.txt
http://www.elmcan.info/Crash.02.txt

BTW there are no other wxWidgets libraries here in /usr/lib/ or in /opt/local/lib/. The dynamic libs from Contents/Frameworks/ should have been used in these tests.

You may also delete all files in Contents/SharedSupport/doc and replace them with the content of:
http://www.elmcan.info/doc.zip
It's cosmetic but I find it useful.

wxWidgets 2.8.12 out

Dave..
Not a bug, but something we should probably also take care of in this release cycle.
wxWidgets 2.8.12 are now officially released. I gave the new version a try and the Windows build is OK and everything looks at least as stable as with 2.8.10 we are now bundling with the setup.
We should probably start to package the new version as part of the beta to give it wider testing.
Also the old non-unicode dlls can be removed from git (and thus the setup package) as they are not needed anymore and will save a few kilobytes from the setup package size.

This version now looks in /usr/local/lib/ and not in Contents/Frameworks/ for the dynamic libs.
Can you check this please? It crashes also BTW.

Yes, it is OK now. One step further on to a running Mac version...

Next should be the investigation why it freeze after using the properties dialog for Dashboard. I will make a movie about that in the evening today.

Try to play a little with the offset function
but..........
I can not see the checkbox to activate this function under the toolbar. Am I missing something?

There is no checkbox to activate it.

1° Toolbox/Config. Uncheck quilting and "Ok"
2° Right click and at the very bottom of the menu "cm93 offset dialog"

Etc ...

Bug Perhaps?

Here's a post I had in the old thread - it applies to 2.3.1 as well as this most recent Beta.
----------------------
Well, time to launch the boat tomorrow. So I fired up OCPN checking harbor entrances and find I keep getting thrown out of chart quilting. Here's the sequence:

I'm using NOAA raster charts of Lake Michigan.
Focus on Hammond Marina (extreme SW of Lake Michigan near Calumet Harbor).
Go up or down in scale to cycle through the available charts.
Every time I pass through chart 14926 chart quilting goes off.

It's a skewed chart which may have something to do with it, although I thought skewed charts now worked.

These are straight NOAA downloads BTW. not home brews.
-----------------
To be more specific, it's 14926_11 that's causing the jump out of quilting.

One responder suggested it was a polyconic or didn't have a skew entered.

I checked the header and there was: SK=40.8679397

Other ideas?

thanks

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.4 Beta Build 324

European Inland Waterway charts unusable with OpenCPN?

Several users here claimed for v2.3.1 already that OpenCPN does not display ENC charts of European Waterways or not correctly. Example here is chart 1R5MK029.000 from iENC | RIS portal Nederland

It displays somehow in demo version MacENC but is unusable in OpenCPN v2.3.324 although it has taken several minutes for generating the S57 file in SENC folder. I also tested some Austria Donau river charts with same bad results because users has claimed about. I am not an inland sailor and tested this only for curiosity. But if these types of charts are not supported we should clearly announce that.

See attachments.

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.4 Beta Build 324

Gerhard,
these charts are supported, although not completely yet, you just choose two of the worst examples you can find out there A lot of easy but time-consuming non-programming work to be done. Clearly a task for someone boating in those areas.
The NED testing charts vary a lot in quality and features they use from area to area, probably according to who has originally done them. A lot of them are not according to the standard.
With Austrian charts the problem is a bit different - they are the only in the world having two different charts for two layers, we should look into overlaying them correctly in quilting mode, which we don't do now. Sometime.
