Re: ??CANADA CHARTS??
Unlike NOAA the Canadian Hydrographic Office does not provide electronic charts at no cost. Both charge for printed versions.

Re: ??CANADA CHARTS??
Be careful. Its worse than that. After I had paid CHS for their charts I discovered that whatever format they provide them in won't work with OpenCPN.

Re: ??CANADA CHARTS??
Thanks. is only Cmap that will work? I use Cap"n Voyager right now on my netbook but i liked the look of OpenCPN simple and not all cluttered up.

Re: ??CANADA CHARTS??
The Canadian charts are BSB4 - there is a BSB4 plugin in the works for the next version of OpenCPN (Windows only) - http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...tml#post639776

Re: Canada Charts ?
The Old CHS ones(1996) work great in OpenCPN.And,with the new OpenCPN Beta Version 2.4.310,even the Polyconic and UTM charts amongst these work quilting. These old charts will be stale as to corrections but there are several good methods in this forum(map2kap,imgkap) to update em as copies...

Re: Canada Charts ?
USA charts are free download. Can charts are avail direct from gov't at high cost. Many people exchange can charts illegally and they will almost always be outdated

Tried it and it does not seem to provide a lot of detail. Here the map for Shelburne NS...perhaps there as some switches I missed?

Re: Canada Charts
check content area it is strictly depth contours but you can snapshot this and then load other map types and snapshot as well overlay them with a image editor (i use photoshop) and add other details as you need very labour intensive but it works and is free perhaps we could all work on different areas and share our finished charts?
