OpenCPN / Mac OS X 10.5.8 problems with language

Hi there,
I am trying to get OpenCPN running on my older Macbook. One issue I am facing is that when it does launch the application menu is in french, even though I select english as the lang in the setup screen. I speak french so it is not a show stopper, but it must a be a problem, no?

Also I cannot get GPS via Bluetooth from my Android phone into the Macbook, but this is a genereal problem and not specific to OpenCPN. anyone have a fix though, I'd like to know about it. Or even a way to get ShareGPS to share the NMEA stream via USB -- I can't find a way to map the tcp port to a virtual serial port on the macbook; packages to do that on Windoze but not OS X that I have found.
