OpenCPN Beta Windows Plugins

See attached picture for the Preference Window I see when using the OD version Hakan put in this thread yesterday. This was also the version causing minimal confusion on my side so far .....

Nav as I suggested earlier, install opencpn v4.1.1317. These plugins only work with that! Its in the filename!!!

I just tried the GE2KAP plugin and it works. This plugin allows you to overlay the current chart displayed on opencpn with the same area from Google Earth and create a KAP chart of the mashup. The plugin is installed (optionally) when you download the latest vers of GE2KAP.

I could provide some documentation but I'm afraid to touch anything until???

As far as I was aware , I was using 4.1.1317, although you make me wonder now. Anyway, Draw looks again as I expected it should, and WD doesn't hang OpenCPN anymore.

If you don't mind, since it is important and has come up, I am going to repeat (for others) in this thread:

In OpenCPN Beta File Thingie:
Keep in mind this is beta.

Plugin files are located in folders named for the earliest version of OpenCPN that they will work in. EG: 4.1.1317 PI Win

Generally Plugins will work with later versions, with the exception of the jump over OpenCPN 4.0. Plugins from before v4.0 will not work in 4.1.x forward.

Plugin Filenames as used here normally have "ov" then the version number. EG: watchdog_pi-1.9025-ov4.1.1317-win32

Please check the version being used. Normally I always test it first before upload, and if I don't, I specifically state I did not test or try it.

Version numbers are important in beta testing because changes are made to the plugin api as new communicating features are added between the plugin and the main program, this then affects compatibility due to the changing opencpn.lib file.

Additionally, if you are having trouble loading a beta plugin from O Beta File Thingie please give the full filename and and full OpenCPN version number, in this thread and explain what is happening.

They were working before that. I have not tested them all.

Before downloading these check the main website for more current versions please.

Hi Rick,

I have downloaded and installed all 29 plugins that are now (22-01-2016) in your 4.1.1317 PI map. I tested with opencpn_4.1.1317_MPR580-jg-setup.exe and it all seems to work OK.
NOTE: The only plugin that gave me trouble, was the rtlsdr_pi-0.14-ov4.1.1317-win32.exe. When I had that pi installed, O crashed when I clicked "Toolbar-Options" and then "Plugins".
Uninstalling the rtlsdr-pi solved the problem, re-installing caused it to happen again.

Wow. Roel, Thankyou! That was effort on your part too!

I am going to remove rtlsdr. I caution others to completely remove rtlsdr from the plugin directory, if they have tried it!
Friend Sean and others use this successfully on Linux, but I do not believe this plugin is ready for Windows (I have tested this plugin nine ways to sunday on Windows with Sean's patient help, with no success. A few others have had success. It may be the particular dongle I purchased.) However it appears the plugin is now in Rx.
