OpenCPN 3.3.xxxx and plugins : NMEA sentences list ?

Hello Dave, so hello to all plugin developers.

I try to update, the French website opencpn.shoreline.fr the page on the NMEA sentences.

I obviously looked in the opencpn.org site. But the page I found is old. It has not been updated for a long time.

Could you here, write a list of all the sentenses that are usable, now, with:
- OpenCPN,
- Each plugin.

Thank you in advance. Gilletarom.

Does anybody know if there is any work going on to get O to read Glonas GL talker id sentences in addition to the traditional GP ( GPS) talker id ??

petter5...

OpenCPN generally does not care about the Talker ID. $GLRMC, e.g., should just work.

Does it?

Thanks

Dave,

that might refer to a question Baikal posted in Flyspray as well.
Here more: http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...ml#post1503098
As I understand , the $GLGNS will have to be processed in the case you have a combined GPS/GLONASS receiver - which are more and more - in order to get the correct number of Sats and their status.

Gilletarom...

The VDR PlugIn records everything, even those messages that are not processed by OCPN.

Re: OpenCPN 3.3.xxxx and plugins : NMEA sentences list ?

Hello Dave,

On this page: NMEA Sentences | Official OpenCPN Homepage, there is an old list of NMEA sentences.

In this old list, there has xxRTE sentences that are not in the list of post # 5:

They have ceased to be exploited ?

Hello Dave,

In your post #5, "xxOSD" is in the OpenCPN list.

Is it true or you write it instead of "xxRSD" ?

Re: OpenCPN 3.3.xxxx and plugins : NMEA sentences list ?

Gilletarom...

Thanks for checking.

1. $xxRTE is not used. I think it never was.

2. $xxOSD is used to capture alternate ships heading from a radar display.

3. $xxRSD is not used.

Regarding RSD/OSD, etc. OCPN has code to display some (M)ARPA target information as sent to O by compatible radars. This code is not well tested, as we seem to have no Beta testers with this configuration currently. Probably it works....

Thanks
Dave

Re: OpenCPN 3.3.xxxx and plugins : NMEA sentences list ?

Hello Dave,

You indicate that OpenCPN does not know use the sentence RTE. This type of sentence is specialized in sending waypoints and routes to autopilots.

With any other type of sentence they are transfers made by OpenCPN?

Thank by advance.

Re: OpenCPN 3.3.xxxx and plugins : NMEA sentences list ?

Gilletarom...

You are of course correct, and I spoke in haste.

O uses $xxRTE and $xxWPL to send routes and waypoints up to a GPS receiver. O does not process these sentences as input, however.

Thanks for the correction
Dave
