Rotterdam

the last 2 I promise, this is Rotterdam, a small light only...
no, I am not searching for them... was only checking the European details

Btw., the black filled spots only appear in scales of 100000 and below

Dancing lighthouse at Inatori, and elsewhere … I have tested CM93 1997/1998 charts in different locations : you never get the same information for the same artifact when you change the zoom depth. I tried the lights at the entrance to Port Fréjus, same problem. And yet, this is no foggy place, and earthquakes are virtually unknown there.
I much prefer the accuracy of French SHOM raster charts.

Blubaju,

Interesting. Here are the same screenshots of Botany Bay from my system. I can't reproduce the black squares. I'm using the latest 1.3.1 beta on Windows Vista, with the CM93-2001 chart set. Obviously there are some real differences in the CM93 data between your version and mine.

After a complete new installation of all CM93/2_09 and openCPN 1.3 & then ß, the black Artefacts are still present, but switching off LIGHTS only, removes them, surprisingly the lights too ;-)

Gentlemen and Ladies....

There is a new opencpn 1.3.1 Beta available, in the usual place. Updated CVS sources are also checked-in.

Note the following changes:

1. Black artifacts in newer CM93 chart sets. Corrected. Problem related to some green sectored lights, which are not common, and had not been seen before. Simple typo in the code, localized impact.

2. Final "Hot Key" set implemented. Testing appreciated.
Arrows: Chart pan
Ctrl+'X' or -: Zoom Out
Ctrl+'Z' or +: Zoom In
F10: Smaller Scale Chart (Scale In)
F11: Larger Scale Chart (Scale Out)
Ctrl+'A' or F2: Auto-Follow On/Off
Ctrl+’O' or F12: Chart Outlines On/Off
Ctrl+'1': Normal Brightness
Ctrl+'2': Dusk Brightness
Ctrl+'3': Night Brightness
F8: Auto-Follow ON
F9: Auto-Follow OFF
Ctrl+’M’: Drop Marker at current cursor position.
Ctrl+space: Man Over Board, sets MOB Marker at current GPS position.
Ctrl+'L Arrow': Scale In
Ctrl+'R Arrow': Scale Out
Ctrl+'Q': Quit OpenCPN
Ctrl+’S' or F3 Toggle ENC Text Display

3. New AIS Query and Alert dialogs, including selectable sound effects. Choose your own .WAV file. Contributions encouraged. Live testing is especially valuable. Simulators equally so.

Friends, I can't tell you how valuable your testing and comments have been. We are real close to a releasable 1.3.2. Target is Friday, if the creek don't rise....

Thanks
Dave

First question:
Have you used the Toolbox->Charts tab to add the subdirectories containing the charts? Perhaps we could see your log file. Not sure where it is on Mac, but it is called opencpn.log

Good Luck
Dave
I did try the "wrench-->add charts" both with the subdirectories and then having all of the charts in a single file. With the subdirectories, nothing happened and no charts appeared. Here is the most recent log after a reinstall and with all of the charts in one directory. I must have accidentally not included everything because now it crashes every time I open and I can't get to the "wrench-->add charts" to change anything:

Fantastic, thank you - compiled it from CVS right away.

Hot keys work now (weren't on first startup for some reason?). Pleased with MOB button! Perhaps the mark could be locked by default. The vector chart text on/off seems highly useful as well.

As for the sound effects, I downloaded a public domain mp3 alarm sound file from pdsounds.org, which I then converted to wav format (cannot upload here due to attachment size restrictions). Plays fine in audacious, but makes a rather odd noise (hissing?) when testing within opencpn. You may wish to consider introducing standard public domain alarm files into the package.

Btw I found some grey boxes right in front of your house (default boat position) on CM 2006 vector charts, screenshot attached.

Great new features Dave, thank you.

There is one new feature not mentioned before - a help file.
You will find it by pressing ? in the menu bar. Click the "Tips" tab and you will find a help text, that's very useful to get you started.

I have found that the "Hot Keys" locks sometimes. I'm still trying to pinpoint the circumstances causing this.

Livia...

First, to get running again, delete the file

/Users/golddigger/Library/Application Support/openCPN/chartlist.dat.

This will allow startup with an empty chart database.

Next, I'm beginning to suspect that your CM93 charts are somehow corrupted.
The log shows that it found a CM93 database, but no chart could load properly.

Do you have any BSB or raster charts that you may try to load?

I was just playing around with the free HK charts from the South-East Asia Hydrographic Commission; unfortunately I cannot zoom in beyond "truescale 275900". Or rather, if I zoom in further with an alternative chart, I can produce a 161600 scale chart as a maximum.

Maybe someone else could double-check this.

The source might also be something for Dacust's homepage

I experience exactly the same behavior. I'm sure it's a built in limitation, as the purpose of these charts is safe offshore navigation.
A bit strange though to have to use CM93 to get max zoom!
Also my values for OpenCPN are 346400 and 173200 respectively, why this difference compared to you, I don't know.
I'm using a screen resolution of 128 X 1020.

Dacust has had a link to these charts for quite a while now.

Missed those apparently - just picked it up from your post on SSCA. I do think that these vector charts are supposed to be complete with detail for the ports etc.. they are the official government charts aren't they.

Find below screenshots for the HK charts versus CM93 (note that I cannot zoom in any further on the HK chart):
