Dave,

I'm having trouble loading CM93 charts on V13.0. How do I get the newest version to see if it still exists?

Thanks

Paul

Paul,

I assume you are looking for the newest version of OpenCPN. You will find it at opencpnbeta. It works great for me on a Windows XP box.

Linux 1.3.2 beta pre-compiled binaries (from CVS)

For who ever want to give a try, I just posted a pre-compiling version of opencpn Linux version (here)

To install & run it:
This version was compile on Ubuntu, but should work most recent distributions seamlessly. Nevertheless do not forget that it is only a nightspot from CVS tree and not a fully FSC version.

I went through the other 60 some odd Netherlands charts that were duplicates. I didn't find any differences between them.

I consolidated all the charts in one directory and, of the mis-matched duplicates, chose the best ones.

If anyone would like the 100MB file (as opposed to the 168MB file with all the duplicates), please PM me and I'll send you the link.

Dave, interestingly enough, the Fugawi viewer choked on some of the charts your program seems to read just fine. Or, I should say, when I went through all the charts that showed as outlines in OpenCPN, all of them worked. While Fugawi refused to show about 6 when I went through my list. And had an internal error on one. I couldn't say for sure if any of those actually show up in yours. You probably don't really care as ling as yours works, but if you do, I'll get a list.

Dave,

Testing V1.3.1 I find that if I include the WORLD.KAP file in the charts, opencpn will go into a loop. Might be something wrong with the file but Fugawi can read it. Attached is the .KAP file, I added the .DOC prefix so I could upload it.
Attached Files
File Type: doc WORLD.KAP.DOC (76.6 KB, 106 views)

@fulup

your tgz doesn't contain executables.

I compile the cvs on ubuntu. Do you know why opencpn doesn't display texts on cm93 charts ?

For Blubaju....

Cannot reproduce the black arcs near Tokyo on my CM93 charts.

Wow, I have never seen CM93 charts with a date of 2009, as I see in your screenshot.
I suppose it is yet another CM93 database......Maybe this is the problem?

Could you please right click->Object Query the light at

Position: 34 46.085 N 139 02.110 E (Inatori)

and screen-shot the result? Particularly interested in the COLOUR and SECTR values.
My shot attached....

Anyone else seeing this problem? Any info on affected CM93 chart set appreciated.

Thanks
Dave

For phiggins...

Thanks for the feedback. Can you give me more info on the loop seen with World.KAP? Does opencpn hang up?

This chart works OK for me, although the chart outline is incorrectly drawn.

Anyone else seeing this?

Thanks
Dave

bdbcat and Blubaju,

That chart artifact near Tokyo disappears when the "LIGHTS" box in the mariner's standard list is unchecked.

Using Windows XP and OpenCPN 1.3.1 (beta).

Thanks Dave.

I don't see the artifacts at all, regardless of what's turned on and off. I'm using the latest 1.3.1 beta on Windows XP, with the CM93-2001 chart set.

I have just checked the Inatori tower on the same CM93 chart as Dave (1997.) Not surprisingly, I get exactly the same info with the same zoom depth.
What is strange is that you don't get the same information when you zoom in to 1/20000. The position of the tower and light is slighly different although there appears to be only one artifact, and the feature index is not the same.

the light house seems moved eastward over the years, to many earthquakes there? or I did get something wrong with the charts (how?). I marked your position with the small triangle left of the black arc.

Quite scary, Japan is a foggy country....

The CM93/2_09, I stumbled over them a few days ago searching in vain for a way to copy my Navionic chip. Private copies are legal in my country, but our law makers do not supply the copy programs.

I only got rid of the black arc by switching to "base" resolution, using openCPN BETA, same display on ubuntu & winXPprof.

Botany Bay Light display on openCPN

this one from Australia, just "below" Sydney, Botany Bay.
note the chart scales and size of the black square.
