Re: OCPN Draw 1.4 available

Jon, I am finding that the ODraw version 1.4.47 compiled on my machine works with WR , such that there is no error when trying to do a Routing with Boundaries.

Whereas the version in your Release causes and error and we have to uncheck "Boundaries" in WR and then the routing will complete.

This is probably the wxWidget 3.0.2 issue. I am going to update my git OD and recompile and test, then I may add a beta release if it works with WD ok.

It works
https://github.com/rgleason/ocpn_dra...ag/v1.4.49beta
with WR

Re: OCPN Draw 1.4 available

Here is the link to the files needed to use Jon's compiled plugins
https://github.com/jongough/ocpn_dra...ses/tag/1.4.47

There is a VS2017-win10-extra.dlls.zip file

These files just augment, making Jon's MS Visual Studio 2017 compiles of ODraw work with our current versions of Opencpn 4.8.0 Alpha. They also don't affect ODraw plugins compiled with MS VS Express 2013 for Desktop.

Re: OCPN Draw 1.4 available

Hi,
The current patch, 1.4.54, has the ability to sort on the 'eye' column an the three tabs of Path and Point Manager. It also has some fixes for edge condition crashes and a performance fix for exporting GPX files.

Is there a real need to have the ability to range select and hide/unhide boundaries/boundary points/layers? It will take another button, but raises issues when some of the selected items are hidden and some are not. To get around this would require two buttons (starting to make the dialog tall).

Regards
Jon

Re: OCPN Draw 1.4 available

Jon,
For Example, use Gillatarom's Gpx file for testing weather-routing. Post #1200
http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...ml#post2547341
Try to hide all those boundaries, just for example. Pretty impressive to run WR with ODraw with these - still some little finishing details to work out for WD.

Why not permit users to highlight the boundaries using the typical highlight the first one, press shift buttons and down button to select, or press control and then pick which ones with the left mouse to change selected state, then once the selection is made and all highlight as desired, use the right mouse button to popup, a menu to pick Show, Hide, Export, Delete, etc?

This would not involve making the menu bigger but give better control to the user.

Re: OCPN Draw 1.4 available

Jon, that DR improvement to allow the user to right click and pick "End point Rubberband, fixed distance" or "End point Rubberband, elastic distance" would be great. After the DR intermediate points have been relocated, there are two programming options when picking the "End point rubberband" choices
1. Not allow this move and not show EP Rubberband
2. Permit the EP Rubberband to reconfigure the DR as it normally would.
I favor choice #2, so that users could reestablish the DR and then adjust intermediate points again.

Re: OCPN Draw 1.4 available

Hello JonGough,

I am currently using :
- OpenCPN bêta 4.8.10109
- DR 1.4.49 that is provided by RGleason in this post:
http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...ml#post2551278

I discovered a little bug by chance. Probably due to DR but ???.

I have a boundary stock with a lot of boundary. All boundaries points of all boundaries are hidden.

I saved these boundaries in a single gpx file and loaded this gpx file into the temporary layers.

The display, in this case, is normal. We do not see any boundary point.

If I turn off this temporary layer by clicking on the eye, the layer disappears. It's normal.

When I click again on the eye, the layer reappears. It's normal.

BUT, then, all the boundary point are, now, visible. This is NOT NORMAL.

Here joined the gpx file. But out ".doc", then unzip it.

What do you undestand by "End point Rubberband" ?

Right click at A and pick "End point Rubberband" and drag the DR to B. Or at any angle, also can lengthen the line and the intermediate points redistribute to be equal.
Same choices on the boat side? Plus attach to boat?

Re: OCPN Draw 1.4 available

Jon's most recent version
ocpn_draw_pi-1.4.54-win32 BETA

Jon,
I like the DR right click "Update Initial Conditions" popup.
I'd very much like it to show the current setting of the DR right-clicked.
upon rather than some default settings, including line type, color, etc..

A little "default settings" or "reset" button in the menu would be good.

Also when a DR line's points have been moved, then it is not possible to determine what the original spacing and length etc was, so perhaps you use default settings.

Thank you, this makes it more useful.

I'd also very much like to see the right-click "Rubberband Move endpoint" because it will make it easier and more graphic.

Re: OCPN Draw 1.4 available

Hello JonGough,

1° I tested this morning version 1.4.54. It seems to me that the bugs I reported are resolved. Bravo !

2° Here is a little detail that can annoy users. Very old details that no one had noticed ...

By example, if we create a DR, and then we want to delete it, we have to use an item that is "Delete ...". The presence of the dotted lines suggests that by using this item, the DR will not be immediately deleted and that the user will first go through a confirmation step. This is not always the case. This confirmation step must be validated in DR's "Preferences".
This is not only true with a DR, it is also true, by example for a boundary.

In other words, a user who did not validate this option in the preferences will be unpleasantly surprised if he clicks on the item "Delete ...".
To avoid this, the item "Delete ...." should be replaced by "Delete".

Gilletarom.
In thinking about Gilletarom's observation I realized that I had right clicked on two DR that were close together, thinking that I had gotten the one I wanted, I deleted it and the one I wanted was deleted. I just assumed that I would hit Ctrl-Z and it would return. Nope.
It might be nice to have such an undo if possible.

I know these matters are always difficult because users expect different things. Maybe if there is a question about which one (within a certain distance) the one being deleted should blink with a question, yes/no and when it is clear which item there is no yes/no. Just an idea.

DR Stretch

Here is a better illustration of "DR Move rubberband" or "DR Stretch"

When a "disturbed" DR is "DR Stretched" it would pick up parameters that it can, like:
Color
SOG
COG
DR path length
DR point interval
and the other parameters that may be available,

The choice of "DR Stretch" would
relax the COG and DR path length and when entered would reorder the DR with regular intervals.

This would make DR more versatile and easier to reuse.

Re: OCPN Draw 1.4 available

Hi,
Patch 1.4.58 has implemented 'Right Click' to bring a popup to allow hiding/showing of paths, points and layers. You can sort by visibility and multi-select items, right click and set the visibility. Hopefully this will do what was requested.

The showing of a Boundaries points in a layer after the layer has been hidden and then shown is also fixed.

Re: OCPN Draw 1.4 available

Hi Gilletarom,
Patch 1.4.60 has implemented this. When you right click the popup menu will show 'Delete...' if there is a confirmation box and 'Delete' if there is not.

Regards
Jon
